The best games to host for 10 or more players are Minecraft, Palworld, Rust, 7 Days to Die, Project Zomboid, Terraria, V Rising and Garry's Mod, because their player caps go well past 10 and their worlds still feel good with a crowd in them. Many popular co-op games stop at 4, 6 or 8 players, so a group of 10 or more has to pick carefully. Expect to need 4 GB for the light games and 12 to 16 GB for the big survival worlds.
Two things go wrong when a big group picks the wrong game. Either the cap is too low and someone sits out every session, or the game technically allows 16 players but the world was balanced for 4, so bosses melt and loot runs dry. The list below only includes games where 10 or more people is a normal, supported way to play.
Player caps at a glance
| Game | Max players | RAM for 10 to 16 players | Monthly price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minecraft: Java Edition | No hard cap | 4 GB (Paper) | 9.99 USD |
| Terraria | 255 | 4 GB | 9.99 USD |
| Palworld | 32 | 16 GB | 39.99 USD |
| Rust | Set by you, 50 on our smallest plan | 8 GB | 19.99 USD |
| 7 Days to Die | Set by you | 12 GB | 29.99 USD |
| Project Zomboid | Set by you | 8 GB | 19.99 USD |
| V Rising | 40 by default, up to 128 | 8 GB | 19.99 USD |
| Garry's Mod | 128 | 4 to 8 GB | 9.99 to 19.99 USD |
| Core Keeper | 100 | 6 GB | 14.99 USD |
| Don't Starve Together | 31 | 6 GB | 14.99 USD |
Games that cap out below 10
Worth knowing before you buy, because these come up in every group chat: Valheim stops at 10, Sons Of The Forest and Icarus at 8, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria at 8, Abiotic Factor and Nightingale are built for 6, and Risk of Rain 2 for 4. They are great games, just not for a group of 12.
1. Minecraft: Java Edition
Minecraft is the default answer for big groups for a reason. There is no hard player cap, the world is effectively infinite, so 15 people can each have their own corner, and Paper keeps a busy server smooth. Plugins handle the problems that only appear with a crowd: land claims with GriefPrevention, ranks with LuckPerms, and a shared economy.
RAM: 4 GB runs Paper with plugins for 10 to 25 players. Modpacks change the maths: a big pack like All the Mods wants 8 GB for up to 15. Best Minecraft server plugins covers the ones a big group needs first.
2. Terraria
Terraria handles a crowd better than most people expect. Boss health scales up with the number of players, and a large world has room for everyone to build a base. With TShock you get regions, groups and permissions so a 12 person server does not turn into a free for all.
RAM: 2 GB covers 8 players on vanilla, 4 GB covers a large world or a bigger group.
3. Palworld
Palworld supports up to 32 players on a dedicated server, compared with only a handful in normal co-op. Bases keep working while people are offline, and since 1.0, Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac players can share one world. The catch is memory: Palworld is one of the heaviest servers to run.
RAM: 12 GB for up to 8, 16 GB for up to 16, and 24 GB for a full 32. Read how many players can join a Palworld server for the details.
4. Rust
Rust has no co-op mode at all: every multiplayer world runs on a dedicated server, from 3 friends to 200 strangers. For a group of 10 to 20, a small map around size 3000 keeps everyone close enough to run into each other. PvE servers with plugins work too, if your group would rather build than raid.
RAM: 8 GB for a small map and up to 50 players.
5. 7 Days to Die
Blood moon hordes scale with the number of players, so a big group means a big fight every seventh night. The game is happiest with 8 to 16 players, and crossplay with PlayStation and Xbox is available on our crossplay server type.
RAM: 8 GB for up to 8, 12 GB for 8 to 16 players or light mods.
6. Project Zomboid
Project Zomboid is a slow, persistent world, and a group of 12 makes Knox County feel like a real apocalypse: some people farm, some loot, some get bitten on day three. Build 42 brought server authoritative inventories and loot, which suits bigger servers.
RAM: 8 GB for up to 12, 12 GB for big mod lists or up to 32. Project Zomboid how many players explains the limits.
7. V Rising
V Rising runs 40 slots by default and lets you set clan sizes separately, so a big PvE group can each build their own castle, or a PvP server can run clans of four. Stunlock calls the game content complete, so your world does not get broken by surprise.
RAM: 6 GB for a PvE group of up to 10, 8 GB for clan PvP with 20 to 40.
8. Garry's Mod
For a large friend group that wants game nights rather than a survival world, Garry's Mod is still unbeaten. Trouble in Terrorist Town needs at least 8 to be fun and gets better with 16. Prop Hunt, Murder and Sandbox are all built for a crowd.
RAM: 4 GB for TTT or Sandbox with a few addons, 8 GB with a full Workshop collection.
9. Core Keeper
A hosted Core Keeper world caps at 8, but the dedicated server goes up to 100. That makes it one of the few cozy games that a big group can share, with everyone digging toward a different biome.
RAM: 4 GB for 8, 6 GB for 8 to 15 players.
10. Don't Starve Together
The panel takes 1 to 31 players, and our servers run the surface and caves as two connected shards. Most private servers sit at 6 to 12, which is a good fit for a group that likes splitting jobs.
RAM: 6 GB for a modded server or 10 plus players.
Sizing RAM for a big group
Player count drives memory in two ways: each player loads their own part of the world, and each player builds things that stay loaded. A rough rule:
- Start with the plan sized for your group on the game's page.
- Watch memory in the panel during your busiest evening.
- If it sits above about 85% for long, move up one plan. Plan changes are prorated, so you only pay the difference for the rest of the month.
How much RAM for a game server has the numbers for every game, and how to change the max players on a game server shows where the cap lives.

Paying for a 10 person server
Big groups have one real advantage: the cost per person is tiny. A 16 GB Palworld server shared by 10 friends is about 4 USD each. On GamezServers you can split the bill with up to 10 friends and each pays their own share, so the person who set up the server is not left covering it. A GamezServers server for your group is live in about a minute, with DDoS protection, one click backups and every setting in a panel.
FAQ
What co-op games support more than 10 players?
Minecraft, Terraria, Palworld (32), Rust, 7 Days to Die, Project Zomboid, V Rising, Core Keeper (100 on a dedicated server), Garry's Mod and Don't Starve Together (31) all go past 10.
Can Valheim have more than 10 players?
Not in the vanilla game. 10 is the limit per world. Some mods raise it, but they are PC only and every player must run them.
How much RAM does a server for 15 players need?
It depends on the game. Minecraft Paper runs 15 players on 4 GB, Project Zomboid needs about 12 GB, and Palworld wants 16 GB.
Is it cheaper per person to host a big group?
Yes. Server cost rises with RAM, not with people, so the more friends sharing one server, the less each pays.
