What comes set up on a Abiotic Factor server
Nobody has to host
The facility, your base and every cleared sector stay online, so the night shift can play without the save owner.
Sandbox rules
Edit AbioticFactor/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/SandboxSettings.ini in the file manager to tune loot respawns, the day cycle, death penalties and enemy difficulty.
Password on by default
Each server starts with its own password, and you set the name and the player cap right in the panel.
Backups before risky runs
Take a one click backup before a portal trip or a big base rework, and roll back if the run goes badly.

Common problems
Players get version mismatch errors after a patch until the server updates. Leave Auto Update on and restart the server once Steam has the new build.
Sandbox changes only apply after a restart, and the file must start with the [SandboxSettings] header or the server ignores it.
If your server does not show in the browser yet, use Direct Connect with the address from the panel. The list can take a few minutes to catch up.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Abiotic Factor server hosting, explained
Abiotic Factor drops a team of scientists into GATE's underground research facility right after containment fails. You scavenge office supplies, build weapons out of keyboards and pipes, cook whatever you can catch, and push deeper through labs, reactors and portal worlds. The developers built it for 1 to 6 players, and that is where it shines: one person runs the crafting bench, one scouts, and everyone argues about who used the last battery.
In a hosted game the world only exists while the host plays. A dedicated server keeps the facility running, so your base, your storage and the sectors you have cleared are there whenever anyone logs in. That suits groups on different schedules, and it means the person with the save is no longer the bottleneck. Small friend groups run most Abiotic Factor servers, often with a few rule tweaks to make the run harder or more relaxed.
The panel covers the server name, password, player cap and automatic updates. Gameplay tuning lives in AbioticFactor/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/SandboxSettings.ini (the server reads that file, not the copy in the world folder), which you edit in the file manager or over SFTP: loot respawn, enemy strength, hunger and thirst, what you lose on death and more. Admin rights for players are set per world in Admin.ini. Saves sit in the server's files, so you can upload an existing world or download yours for safekeeping.
The server runs the Windows build through a compatibility layer, so it wants more memory than the game's look suggests. A small crew is fine on 6 GB. A full team of 6 with a large base is happiest on 8 GB, and 12 GB covers a raised player cap or a save that has been going for months. You can change plans at any time without losing the world.

Common questions
How many players can join an Abiotic Factor server?
The game is designed and balanced for 1 to 6 players, and the server starts at 6. The panel lets you raise the cap, but more than 6 is outside what the developers tune for.
How do my friends connect?
They find the server by name in the in game server browser, or use Direct Connect with the address from your panel. They will be asked for the server password.
Where do I change difficulty and loot settings?
In AbioticFactor/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/SandboxSettings.ini. The server reads that file rather than the copy in the world's save folder. Edit it in the file manager, keep the [SandboxSettings] header at the top, and restart the server.
Can I move my existing save to the server?
Yes. Stop the server, upload your world folder into the server's save directory over SFTP or the file manager, and start it again. Take a backup first.
How do I give someone admin?
Add their Steam ID to the world's Admin.ini file and restart. Admins can kick and ban players and use admin commands in game.
Why can't players join after a game update?
Clients and the server must be on the same build. With Auto Update on, a restart pulls the latest version from Steam.
Does the server keep running when we all log off?
Yes, the world stays online. You can also turn on Sleep when empty, which saves and stops the server after 4 days with nobody on and wakes with one click.
How much RAM does an Abiotic Factor server need?
Plan on 6 GB for a small crew and 8 GB for a full team of 6. Large, long running saves or a raised player cap do better on 12 GB.
Is GamezServers affiliated with Abiotic Factor?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated Abiotic Factor server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
