The best crossplay games with dedicated servers in 2026 are Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, Palworld, ARK: Survival Ascended, Valheim, RuneScape: Dragonwilds and 7 Days to Die. In each of them PC and console players can share one always online server, which matters because consoles cannot run a dedicated server themselves.

Crossplay is the detail that splits friend groups, so every entry below says exactly which platforms mix, how console players find the server, and what the catch is. Facts are current as of October 2026.

1. Minecraft: Bedrock Edition

Bedrock is the widest crossplay of any game here: phones, tablets, Windows, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch all share one world. The official Bedrock Dedicated Server is light, so a small group runs happily on 2 GB.

The catch: Xbox, PlayStation and Switch only show featured servers and have no Add Server button. Players get around it with the free BedrockConnect DNS method, or with apps that make the server appear as a LAN or friends game. Also keep the server updated, since consoles update automatically and a newer client cannot join an older server.

2. Palworld

Since the 1.0 release, Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 5 and Mac players can play on the same dedicated server. A server raises the cap from 4 in co-op to 32, and the world keeps running so your Pals keep working while you are offline.

3. ARK: Survival Ascended

Survival Ascended is cross platform across PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5. Console players find a server in the Unofficial list with Show Player Servers turned on. Mods come from CurseForge and download automatically for players, including on console, as long as the mod is marked as cross platform.

The catch: ARK is heavy. Plan on 12 GB or more, and check every mod's platform support before adding it, or console friends will not be able to join. See how to install mods on an ARK: Survival Ascended server.

4. Valheim

Valheim's dedicated server has a crossplay mode that lets Steam players share a world with Xbox, PC Game Pass, PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 players. Console players join with the server's join code, which appears in the server console on a line that says it registered with a join code.

The catch: mods are PC only, so a crossplay server should stay vanilla. If your group is all on Steam and wants BepInEx mods, run a modded server instead. Details in Valheim dedicated server crossplay.

5. RuneScape: Dragonwilds

Dragonwilds left early access with 1.0 on 15 September 2026, and dedicated worlds gained crossplay across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Since consoles cannot run the server, a dedicated world is the only way to give a console group a world that stays up when nobody is hosting.

6. 7 Days to Die

7 Days to Die dedicated servers can run in crossplay mode so PlayStation and Xbox players join PC players. Console players find the server by name in the server browser.

The catch: crossplay servers are limited to 8 players, must keep Easy Anti-Cheat on, and cannot run mods. If your group wants overhaul mods like Darkness Falls, that is a PC only server. On our panel you choose the Crossplay or PC server type.

7. Minecraft: Java Edition with Geyser

Java Edition has no official crossplay, but the Geyser plugin translates Bedrock players onto a Java server, and Floodgate lets them join without a Java account. It is the most popular way to put PC Java players and console or phone players in one world, with all of Java's plugins.

Arma Reforger: PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 share community servers, which you can run with the free dedicated server. Some mods are limited on console.
Space Engineers: crossplay between PC and consoles works only on dedicated servers set to console compatibility using the EOS network. Crossplay servers cannot use Steam Workshop mods.

How crossplay works on a dedicated server

Two things have to line up for console players to join:

The server has crossplay turned on. It is usually a launch option or config setting, not automatic. Valheim uses a crossplay flag, Palworld a list of allowed platforms, 7 Days to Die a crossplay setting with anti-cheat on.
Console players can find it. Consoles almost never let you type an IP. They rely on a server list, a join code or a friends list. If your server is hidden from the list, console friends cannot see it even with crossplay on.

Also check console privacy settings. Xbox in particular has a crossplay toggle under Settings, Account, Privacy and online safety that blocks joining if it is off.

Can PS5 players join a PC dedicated server?

In games that support it, yes: Palworld, ARK: Survival Ascended, Valheim, Dragonwilds, 7 Days to Die and Minecraft Bedrock all allow it. They join through the game's server list or join code rather than an IP address.

Can console players host a dedicated server?

No. Consoles cannot run dedicated server software. The server runs on a PC or in a data center, and console players connect to it.

Do mods work with crossplay?

Mostly not. Valheim, 7 Days to Die and Space Engineers crossplay servers have to be unmodded. ARK is the exception, with CurseForge mods that support console.

Does crossplay cost extra on a server?
