RuneScape: Dragonwilds crossplay works on dedicated servers since the 1.0 release on 15 September 2026. The server needs PlatformPolicy=Crossplay in DedicatedServer.ini, and then players on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 can join the same world by searching its name or entering the invite code. Consoles cannot run a server themselves, so a dedicated server on a PC, Linux box or host is the only way for a console group to have an always online world.

Short answer

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Open DedicatedServer.ini and make sure it has PlatformPolicy=Crossplay.
  3. Start the server.
  4. Players on any platform search the exact world name on the Public tab, or enter the invite code from someone's pause menu.
  5. Console players allow crossplay in their console's privacy settings if they cannot see the world.

How Dragonwilds crossplay works

Before 1.0, dedicated servers were Steam only. Version 1.0 added a crossplay setting to the dedicated server and invite codes to the world browser. A crossplay world appears in the world browser for every platform, and anyone in the world can share its invite code.

There is no cross save. Crossplay lets you play together, but your character and progress on one platform do not carry over to another.

Step 1: Set PlatformPolicy

The setting lives in DedicatedServer.ini under [/Script/Dominion.DedicatedServerSettings]:

Server File
Windows RSDragonwilds/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/DedicatedServer.ini
Linux RSDragonwilds/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/DedicatedServer.ini
GamezServers RSDragonwilds/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/DedicatedServer.ini in the Files tab
[/Script/Dominion.DedicatedServerSettings]
PlatformPolicy=Crossplay

PlatformPolicy decides which platforms may join. Crossplay lets everyone in. A single platform value such as PC limits the server to that platform. The server usually writes Crossplay itself, so on most servers it is already on, but check if console friends cannot see the world.

Stop the server before you edit. Jagex lists this as a known issue: changes made while the server is running are thrown away when it saves.

Step 2: Share the world name or invite code

Players can join a crossplay world in two ways:

  1. Search by name. On the Worlds screen, open the Public tab and search the exact world name. It is case sensitive and matches the world name, not the server name.
  2. Invite code. Anyone already in the world can see the current code in the pause menu. Friends enter it in the world browser. This is usually the easiest route for console players, since typing on a controller is slow.

If the server has a world password, players enter it next, then choose a character.

Step 3: Console privacy settings

If a PlayStation, Xbox or Switch 2 player still cannot see or join the world, the block is often on the console:

  • PlayStation 5: check the console's privacy and parental control settings allow cross network play and online play for the account.
  • Xbox Series X|S: in the account's privacy and online safety settings, allow joining cross network play.
  • Nintendo Switch 2: check parental controls do not restrict online communication or play with other platforms.

Child accounts are the usual reason, since crossplay is often off by default for them. The exact menu names change between console updates, so look for "cross network" or "crossplay" in privacy settings.

Some players have also reported a "crossplay disabled" banner in game that turned out to be the device clock being wrong. Setting the date and time to automatic fixed it.

Step 4: Keep versions in step

Crossplay makes version mismatches more likely. Console patches can arrive at a different time from Steam patches, and the server has to match the game build. If only one platform suddenly cannot see the world after a patch, it is usually waiting for its update, or the server is. Update the server after every patch and restart.

Troubleshooting crossplay

Problem Fix
PC players see the world, console players do not Check PlatformPolicy=Crossplay, then console privacy settings
"Crossplay disabled" banner Check crossplay in game settings and the device clock
Invite code does not work Codes can change, so ask someone in the world for the current one from the pause menu
World vanished for everyone after a patch Update the server to the new build
Steam invite does nothing Steam invites to dedicated servers are unreliable. Use the name or invite code

Crossplay on a hosted server

A console only group has no way to run the server themselves. With GamezServers, one person orders the server from any browser, and the world is online in about 60 seconds. Crossplay is on through PlatformPolicy in the Files tab, the port is already open, and friends can split the monthly price at checkout.
