RuneScape: Dragonwilds patch 1.0.0.6 went live on 29 September 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Switch 2, according to Jagex's 1.0.0.6 patch notes. It follows 1.0.0.5 on 25 September, which fixed several dedicated server bugs. Both patches deal with the launch save corruption, which Jagex plans to fully fix in update 1.0.1 in mid October.

What changed in Dragonwilds patch 1.0.0.6?

Patch 1.0.0.6 is short and focused on saves and crossplay. From Jagex's notes:

Fix What it means
"Epic Games Store players are now back online and can enjoy Crossplay again!" Epic players can join crossplay worlds, including dedicated servers, again
Users could quit the Edit Appearance menu before the character save had completed Closes one of the ways saves were being corrupted
On PC, incorrect filenames were accepted as character files Stops broken files loading as characters
Some corrupted world saves were no longer visible in the menu Worlds reappear in the list, though Jagex warns "Some users may still not be able to access their world after this fix"
Some users crashed when selecting Online play while offline Crash fixed

What did patch 1.0.0.5 fix for dedicated servers?

Jagex published the 1.0.0.5 patch notes on 23 September, with the patch releasing that Friday. It is the more important one for server owners:

  • Console owners can edit their worlds. "Resolving an issue where Dedicated Server owners could not edit their dedicated server worlds on consoles."
  • Modded servers no longer corrupt console saves. "Fixing an issue where joining a modded Dedicated Server from consoles would corrupt a player save."
  • Bigger groups can connect. "Users no longer fail to connect to Multiplayer servers with more than 2 players present", and Xbox clients can now join when two or more players are already in.
  • Sworn Servant works on servers. The spell could not be cast in multiplayer or on dedicated servers before.
  • Search tooltip. The server search now explains that it is case sensitive, which is the most common reason a world cannot be found. See Dragonwilds server not showing up.
  • Steam self hosted server button navigation was fixed.
  • Xbox privacy warnings. Players are now told when an Xbox privacy setting stops them going online.

Other fixes included a PS5 crash when creating a crossplay world, Scorned Wilderness Raid respawn issues, the Abyssal Whip recipe unlocking for existing saves, and DLSS and FSR upscaling on the Windows and Game Pass versions.

Jagex also said it is changing when it submits updates for console certification, after feedback about "the updates knocking crossplay offline" while one platform waited for its patch.

What caused the Dragonwilds save corruption?

In its save corruption update on 29 September, Jagex said around a thousand players on consoles and PC Game Pass lost access to saves during the launch window. The main cause was editing your character's appearance: disconnecting, putting a console to sleep or similar interruptions while the appearance save was being written left the save unreadable.

Jagex's response so far:

  1. The Edit Appearance button has been removed until the fix is complete, so it cannot cause more losses.
  2. Patch 1.0.0.6 stopped players leaving the appearance menu mid save and made some corrupted worlds visible again.
  3. Update 1.0.1, planned for mid October, restores affected characters. They come back with Tier 4 equipment and skills set to pre calculated levels based on average player progress. Character name, appearance and access to private chests are kept.

Jagex says world progression was preserved for affected players. The corruption hit character saves, not the world itself.

What this means for your server

  • Update and restart. Players cannot see a dedicated server that runs an older build than their game. After each patch, update the server and restart it, then check the server log shows the new version.
  • Your world was not the target. The corruption affected character saves on consoles and PC Game Pass. A dedicated server's world .sav lives on the server, but back it up before 1.0.1 anyway.
  • Console owners can now manage their worlds. If you are a PlayStation, Xbox or Switch 2 player who owns a dedicated server, world editing works since 1.0.0.5.
  • Keep the main world unmodded. The modded server bug is fixed, but Jagex's official mod tools are not due until 2027. See the Dragonwilds roadmap.
  • Do not panic about Edit Appearance. It is gone for now and will return when Jagex is sure it is safe.

If crossplay friends still cannot see the world after updating, check PlatformPolicy=Crossplay and each console's privacy settings with our Dragonwilds crossplay guide.

Jagex is targeting mid October 2026 for update 1.0.1, which restores characters lost to the save corruption. No exact date has been given.
