How to join your Enshrouded server

Launch Enshrouded and click Play, then Join Game.

Tick Show dedicated servers and Show password protected servers.

Common problems

Cannot find the server

Tick Show dedicated servers and Show password protected servers, then search for the exact name.

Server not responding

Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 90 minutes with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.

Use the server address

Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.

No port forwarding or firewall changes

Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.

Enshrouded server hosting, explained

An Enshrouded dedicated server keeps your world online without anyone hosting from their own game. In a normal co-op session the world only exists while the host is playing, so everyone else waits for them. A dedicated server runs on its own, holds up to 16 players and lets anyone in your group log in, farm, build or explore whenever they have time.

The official server is a Windows program installed with SteamCMD under app ID 2278520 and configured through a single file, enshrouded_server.json. Access works through user groups rather than one shared password: each role such as Admin, Friend or Guest gets its own password and its own permissions for kicking players, opening chests and editing bases. The same file holds the game settings preset, and choosing Custom unlocks detailed options like enemy damage, resource yield and day length.

Enshrouded is heavier on the server than most survival games because the whole voxel world, including every base the players carve and build, stays loaded and simulated. Memory and CPU use rise with player count and base size, which is why a full 16 player world wants around 16 GB. Can I upload my current save?

Yes. Upload it from the dashboard and restart.

How many players can join an Enshrouded server?

Up to 16, which is the limit set by the game. Pick a plan with enough RAM for the group you expect.

Is my server ready for Enshrouded 1.0?

Yes. When 1.0 releases on 15 October you update from the panel. Back up first, since big releases can change how saves load.

How do I set a password or make myself admin?

Enshrouded uses user groups. Each group, such as Admin or Friend, has its own password and permissions. Players type the password for the role they should get when they join.

Can I use mods on an Enshrouded server?

Not really. Enshrouded has no official mod support for dedicated servers, so servers run the game as Keen Games ships it. You can still change a lot through the custom game settings.

Do my friends need to own Enshrouded?

Yes. Every player needs their own copy of Enshrouded on Steam. The server itself does not need a game license.
