How to join your The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria server

  1. 1

Launch Return to Moria and open Join World.

  2. 2

Enter the invite code from your server console, or open Advanced Join Options and type 203.0.113.24 under Direct Join.

  3. 3

Enter the password from your panel if you set one.

  4. 4

Pick your dwarf and join the company.

Common problems

Console players cannot type an address. Give them the invite code the server prints in the console once the world is up.

Crossplay is set in MoriaServerConfig.ini. Choose PC only, PC and Xbox, or all platforms, then restart.

If friends cannot join after a patch, restart the server so Auto Update pulls the new version.

Server not responding

Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.

Use the server address

Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.

No port forwarding or firewall changes

Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria server hosting, explained

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is a survival crafting game set in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth. You lead a company of dwarves back into Moria to mine ore, build bases, forge gear and fight orcs through procedurally generated depths. Up to 8 players can be in a world at once, and groups split the work between mining runs, base building and pushing further into the dark.

A dedicated server keeps the world up when the host logs off, so everyone can dig on their own time and the forge keeps waiting. That suits groups where people play at different hours, and mixed groups too: Steam, Epic, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players can all join a PC dedicated server. Console friends join with the invite code, PC players can also connect directly.

In the panel you set the server name, password, world difficulty and auto update. Difficulty runs from Story to Hard, with Custom for your own tuning. Crossplay scope and other options are in MoriaServerConfig.ini in the file manager, and the world save sits on the server, so a one click backup before a big push keeps a way back. Sleep when empty can also pause it when nobody is digging.

Moria's world grows as you explore, and loaded areas take memory. A small group in the early zones is fine on 8 GB. A full company of 8 spread across the mines, or a long running world, should use 12 GB. 16 GB is for deep, fully explored worlds with bases everywhere. A company can split the bill between up to 10 players, each paying their share, and plans change in the panel any time.

Up to 8 at the same time. Any number of different players can use the server over time.

Is there crossplay on dedicated servers?

Yes. Steam, Epic, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players can join. MoriaServerConfig.ini lets you limit it to PC only, PC and Xbox, or all platforms.

How do players join?

Through Join World, with the invite code shown in the server console, or on PC through Advanced Join Options and Direct Join with the address.

Do players need a key or token?

No. Anyone who owns the game can join, with the password if you set one.

Can I change difficulty later?

Yes. Change World difficulty in the panel and restart. Story, Solo, Normal, Hard and Custom are available.

Is the world saved on the server?

Yes. The world lives on the server and survives restarts. Take a backup from the panel before big updates.

Can console players host a dedicated server?

No. Dedicated servers run on PC hardware, and console players join them. Our server is that PC host.

How much RAM does a Moria server need?

At least 8 GB. A full group of 8 in a long running world should use 12 GB.

Is GamezServers affiliated with The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria?

No. You rent and control your own dedicated The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.

Can my friends and I split the cost?

Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.

Can I build a custom plan?

Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.

Can I pay once instead of a subscription?

Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.

How fast is setup, really?

Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
