What comes set up on a Mindustry server

PC and mobile together

Desktop, Android and iOS players can share one server, as long as everyone is on the same build.

Survival, attack or PvP

Start any map from the console with host and a mode, from wave survival to team PvP between factories.

Server plugins

Drop plugin jars into config/mods for votes, admin tools and custom commands. Players don't need to install them.

Pin the game version

Set the Version to latest or a GitHub tag like v146 so the server matches what your players run.

Common problems

Mobile players stuck on an older build can't join a newer server. Set Version to the build they have, then reinstall.

Use host <map> <mode> in the console to switch maps and modes, for example host Fortress attack. maps lists what is installed.

Make yourself admin from the console with admin add <name> after you join, then you can kick and ban from in game.

Use save <slot> before a big change and load <slot> to roll back. Panel backups cover the whole config folder too.

Server not responding

Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.

Use the server address

Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.

No port forwarding or firewall changes

Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.

Modding your Mindustry server

Server plugins are jar files you upload to config/mods, and only the server needs them. Content mods that add blocks or units also go there, but every player must install them too.

Mindustry server hosting, explained

Mindustry is a factory game with a tower defense problem. You mine copper and lead, belt it through smelters and factories, and feed what comes out into turrets and unit factories before the next wave hits your core. In multiplayer the whole team shares one core and one pool of resources, so one player can run silicon while another lays out defenses and a third pushes units into the enemy base.

A dedicated server keeps the map going after whoever started it logs off, and holds far more players than a game hosted from someone's phone. Groups use them for long survival runs, attack maps against enemy cores, team PvP, or a sandbox for testing designs. Public servers with their own plugins and rules are a big part of the community, and nearly all of them are just this server jar with plugins on top.

In the panel you set the server name, the starting map and the game version, which takes latest or any GitHub release tag. Everything else happens in the console: `host` to start a map in a given mode, `kick`, `ban`, `say` and `admin add`, plus `save` and `load` for slots. Plugins and custom maps go up through the file manager or SFTP into the config folder.

The server runs on Java and is light. A handful of friends on stock maps fits in 2 GB. Long survival runs where factories sprawl across the map, or a few plugins, are comfortable on 4 GB. Public servers with a crowd of players and a stack of plugins are where 8 GB earns its place. You can move between plans any time, and the bill is prorated.

Common questions

How many players can a Mindustry server hold?

There is no fixed small cap. Public servers run with dozens of players, and the practical limit is how much unit and factory activity your plan can keep up with.

Can mobile players join a PC server?

Yes. Mindustry multiplayer is cross platform. Everyone must run the same build, and phone store updates sometimes lag behind Steam and itch.io.

How do I join a Mindustry server?

Go to Play, then Join Game, click Add Server and enter the address. The server then shows in your list.

Do players need the server's plugins?

No. Plugins in config/mods run on the server only. Content mods that add new blocks or units are different, and players must install those themselves.

Which game modes can a server run?

Survival, attack, PvP and sandbox. Pick a starting map in the panel and use host with a mode in the console to switch.

Can I run the v8 beta?

Yes. Set Version to the release tag you want from the Mindustry GitHub releases and reinstall. Players need that same build.

How do I make myself admin?

Join the server, then type admin add followed by your player name in the panel console. Admins can kick, ban and use admin commands in game.

Can I upload my own maps?

Yes. Put .msav map files in config/maps through the file manager, then start them with host.

Is GamezServers affiliated with Mindustry?

No. You rent and control your own dedicated Mindustry server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.

Can my friends and I split the cost?

Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.

Can I build a custom plan?

Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.

Can I pay once instead of a subscription?

Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.

How fast is setup, really?

Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
