Common problems
The Map Seed only applies to a new world. To start over with a different seed, turn off Should Load Latest Savegame or remove the old save, then restart.
Players on an older build cannot join after a patch. Keep Auto Update on and restart the server when a new version is out.
Free Construction is great for planning layouts together, but turn it off again before a normal run or the colony will not feel earned.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Astro Colony server hosting, explained
Astro Colony is a space automation game from Terad Games, out of early access since June 2026. You land astronauts on voxel planets, dig resources, lay conveyors and production chains, and keep everyone supplied with oxygen and food while you research more than 70 technologies and link colonies into a network. It plays well in co-op, with one player fixing a broken supply line while another plans the next outpost.
Hosting from your own PC means the colony only exists while you play. A dedicated server keeps the save available, so anyone in the group can log in, fix a bottleneck and log off again. Groups who play automation games tend to play in long, uneven bursts, and a server that is always reachable suits that much better than waiting for the host.
The panel covers the settings Astro Colony groups tweak most: server and map name, password, player cap up to 10, map seed, autosave interval, how many autosaves to keep, whether to load the latest save on start, and an admin list by Steam ID. Gameplay switches include shared technologies, oxygen consumption and free construction. Saves sit in the server's files, so you can download them or upload a world.
Memory grows with how much you build. 4 GB is enough for a few friends on a new map. A full group of 10, or several colonies with long conveyor networks, runs best on 8 GB. Huge late game networks across many planets are a 12 GB job, and you can move between plans whenever the colony outgrows one. Upgrades keep your save.

Common questions
How many players can join an Astro Colony server?
Up to 10. Set the cap with the Max Players setting, which starts at 5.
Can we share research between players?
Yes. Turn on Shared Technologies and anything one player researches is unlocked for everyone.
Can I turn off oxygen or build costs?
The panel has toggles for Oxygen Consumption and Free Construction. Restart the server after changing them.
How often does the server save?
You choose with Autosave Interval, in minutes, and Autosaves Count. With Should Load Latest Savegame on, the server continues from the newest save after a restart.
How do I give someone admin?
Add their Steam64 ID to the Admin List setting, separated by commas, and restart the server.
How do I keep strangers out?
Set a Server Password. Without one the server is open to anyone who finds it in the list.
Can I start a new world?
Change the Map Seed and Map Name, turn off loading the latest save or remove the old save, and restart. Take a backup first if you might want the old colony back.
How much RAM does an Astro Colony server need?
4 GB for a small group starting out, 8 GB for bigger bases or a full 10 players, and 12 GB for huge late game networks.
Is GamezServers affiliated with Astro Colony?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated Astro Colony server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
