A free Valheim server your crew can sail any time
A paid, dedicated Valheim server, with your share link covering the bill.
Valheim worlds hosted from the game only exist while the host is playing, and free hosts rarely have the memory to run one well. Here the server is a normal paid one, and the credits your share link earns pay for it.

How a Valheim server ends up costing nothing
Why free Valheim hosting is hard to find
A Valheim dedicated server is free software, but the machine running it is not. It wants around 4 GB of memory for a small group, and 6 to 8 GB for a full crew of 10, big late game bases or a BepInEx modpack. Hosts that give that away for nothing have to make it back somewhere, usually with ads, start queues or a server that shuts off the moment the last Viking logs out.
The usual alternative is hosting from inside the game, which ties the whole world to one PC. When that person goes to bed, the longship stays in the harbor for everyone.
Your link earns credits two ways
Every account gets a share link in one click from the dashboard. No application, no code to type in. It earns 5 cents in credits for every person who clicks it, counted once a day per person, and $10 in credits for every person who clicks it and subscribes, once per person.
Anyone counts, not just your crew. Someone who finds your link in a Valheim Discord, a Reddit thread or under a video earns you credits just like your best friend does.
What the credits buy in Valheim
Credits are money that buys servers with us, not a discount, and they come off your bills automatically. The 4 GB Starter plan is $9.99 a month, so $10 in credits covers about a month of it, and every subscriber after that is another month for the crew. Three of them cover two months of the 6 GB Standard plan at $14.99, the size for a full crew of 10.
Once your credits cover a server you get it with credits alone, no card and no payment. A small prepaid Valheim server for 3 days is $2.50, so 50 clicks are enough to get started. Credits have no cash value and only pay GamezServers bills.
The same server a paying crew gets
There is nothing stripped down about it. You get dedicated memory, DDoS protection, backups before every boss fight, a live console and a file manager to upload an old world into. Crossplay is on by default on the vanilla server type, so Xbox, PlayStation 5, Switch 2 and Game Pass players join Steam players with a join code. Prefer mods? Switch to BepInEx and add a Thunderstore modpack.
The world stays online when everyone logs off. It only goes to sleep after 4 days with nobody on, and anyone with access wakes it with one click from the dashboard. Valheim updates itself on every restart, so after a patch a restart is all it takes.

How to join your Valheim server
- 1
Launch Valheim, click Start Game and pick your character.
- 2
Open the Join Game tab and click Add server.
- 3
Paste
203.0.113.24:2456and click Add server again. - 4
Select the server, click Connect and enter the password from the server settings.
- 5
On Xbox, PlayStation or Switch 2, type the server's join code in the Join Game tab instead. The owner finds it in the server console.
Common problems
Wrong password or cannot connect
The password is case sensitive. Right after a start or update the server needs a minute or two to load the world before it accepts players.
Joining from Xbox, PlayStation or Switch 2
Console players join with the join code, not the address. The owner finds it in the server console on a line that says registered with join code.
Incompatible version
The server updates Valheim on every restart. After a Valheim patch the owner restarts the server and players update their game.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Common questions
Is the Valheim server really free?
The server is a normal paid one. Your share link earns credits that come off the bill automatically, and when they cover the whole bill you pay nothing.
How much RAM does a Valheim server need?
About 4 GB for vanilla with up to 5 Vikings, and 6 to 8 GB for a full crew of 10, big bases or a BepInEx modpack. Bigger plans cost more credits.
How do I earn credits?
Two ways: 5 cents for every person who clicks your link, once a day per person, and $10 for every person who clicks it and subscribes, once per person. They do not need to be your friends.
Can credits pay for the whole server without a card?
Yes. Once your credits cover a server you get it with credits alone. A 3 day prepaid 4 GB Valheim server is $2.50, and you can keep adding time with credits.
Do console players get crossplay on a free server?
Yes. It is the same server as a paid one. Crossplay is on by default on the vanilla type, and console players join with the join code shown in the server console.
What happens when nobody is playing?
The server stays online. After 4 days with nobody on it is saved and goes to sleep, and anyone with access starts it again with one click.
Can I withdraw my credits as cash?
No. Credits have no cash value and only pay GamezServers bills. They never expire while the program runs.
How many Vikings can play?
Valheim supports up to 10 players per world.
Can I bring my existing world?
Yes. Stop the server, open Files and upload your world folder, or the .db and .fwl files from a world saved before 1.0, into .config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/worlds_local. Set World name to the same name and start. Older worlds convert to the new format the first time they load.
Does crossplay work?
Yes. Crossplay is on by default on the vanilla server type, so players on Xbox, PC Game Pass, PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 can join Steam players on the same server with its join code. Mods are PC only, so crossplay servers are best kept vanilla.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
