Getting a server takes a few minutes and one page. You pick a game, choose a plan, name the server, sign in or create an account, and pay. This page walks through each step and what happens afterwards.
Step 1: Pick a game
Go to the games page and open the game you want to host, for example Minecraft or Valheim. Each game page shows its plans, what they are good for, and how players join. Games marked as coming soon are not available to order yet.
Click the button under any plan and you land on the checkout page for that game with that plan selected.
Step 2: Choose a plan
Plans are sized by RAM, and each one lists its memory, vCPU and a suggested player count. The plan marked Popular suits most groups. If you are unsure, read choosing a plan.
The order summary on the checkout page always shows the plan you selected and the monthly price.
Step 3: Name your server
Give your server a name so you can tell it apart on your dashboard. This is optional. If you leave it blank we use a default such as "Alex's Minecraft Server". Names can be up to 48 characters.
Step 4: Sign in or create an account
The account step is on the same page, so there is nothing to sign up for beforehand.
- Email and password: enter your email and a password of at least 8 characters. If you already have an account we sign you in. If you do not, we create one for you automatically.
- Continue with Google: one click, no password needed.
If you are already signed in, the page shows the account you are using. Click Not you? to switch accounts. See account and sign in for details.
Step 5: Pay through Stripe
Click Continue to secure payment and you are taken to Stripe Checkout, where you can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. If you have a promotion code, enter it on the Stripe page before paying.
Your plan is a monthly subscription. You are charged today and then once a month until you cancel. More in billing and cancellation.
If you back out of the Stripe page, you return to the checkout page with your plan still selected and nothing is charged.
Step 6: Your server is set up
After payment you are sent to your dashboard with a confirmation message, and we email you an order confirmation. Your new server appears in the Your servers list with the status Setting up while it is being built.
The dashboard shows each server's status:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Setting up | Payment went through and the server is being prepared. |
| Online | The server is running and players can join. |
| Offline | The server is stopped. |
| Suspended | The server is paused. Email support@gamezservers.com if you are not sure why. |
| Cancelled | The subscription has ended. |
The control panel, with a live console and one click actions like start, stop, restart and backup, is where you manage the server day to day.
Step 7: Confirm your email
If you signed up with an email and password, we send a confirmation link. Click it so we can reach you about your servers. If it did not arrive, use Resend the link on your dashboard.
Next steps
- Invite friends: send them your server's address and tell them how to join. Each game page has a How to join section with the steps for that game.
- Learn what your game needs: how much RAM a game server needs.
- Want a second server? Click New server on the dashboard. Every server has its own plan and subscription, and they all show up in the same list.
Want a server without the setup?
Pick a game, pay, play. Your address and login appear the moment checkout finishes.
