Account and Sign In: Google, Passwords, Resets and Email Confirmation

Your account holds your servers and your billing. You can sign in with an email and password, with Google, or both. This page explains how each option works and what to do if you get locked out.

Ways to sign in

Email and password

There is one form for both signing in and signing up. Enter your email and a password:

• If an account with that email exists and the password matches, you are signed in.
• If no account exists yet, one is created for you with that password, and you are signed in straight away.

Passwords need at least 8 characters. You can sign in from the sign in page or directly on the checkout page when you order a server.

Continue with Google

Click Continue with Google and choose your Google account. There is no password to remember, and your email counts as confirmed automatically because Google has already verified it.

Using Google and a password on the same email

Google and password logins that use the same email address are merged into one account. You see the same servers and billing whichever way you sign in.

• Password account, then Google: if you created an account with a password and later click Continue with Google with the same email, Google is added to that account. If you had not yet confirmed your email, the unconfirmed password is removed for security and you sign in with Google from then on. You can add a password again at any time with a password reset.
• Google account, then password: if you signed up with Google and try to sign in with a password, you will see a message asking you to use Continue with Google. To add a password as well, use Forgot password? to set one. After that, both work.

Resetting your password

1. Go to the sign in page and click Forgot password?, or open the reset request page directly.
2. Enter your email. If there is an account for it, we email you a reset link. For privacy, the page looks the same whether or not an account exists.
3. Open the link and choose a new password of at least 8 characters. You are signed in straight away.

Reset links are valid for 1 hour and stop working once your password has been changed. If yours has expired, request a new one. Completing a reset also confirms your email address, since you proved you can read mail sent to it.

Confirming your email

When you create an account with an email and password, we send a welcome email with a Confirm my email link. Confirming lets us reach you about your servers, orders and billing.

• Confirmation links are valid for 7 days.
• Until you confirm, your dashboard shows a reminder. Click Resend the link in that reminder to get a fresh email.
• If a link has expired, sign in and send a new one from your dashboard.

Accounts created with Google are confirmed automatically.

Signing out

Click Log out on your dashboard. On the checkout page, Not you? signs you out so you can switch accounts.
