Terraria 1.4.5.7 released for PC on 19 August 2026 as the big balance hotfix for the Bigger and Boulder update, followed days later by the 1.4.5.8 hotfix (Re-Logic on Steam, 19 August 2026). Servers should run the 1.4.5.8 dedicated server. TShock supports it since 6.2.1, while tModLoader still runs on Terraria 1.4.4.
What is in Terraria 1.4.5.7?
Re-Logic called 1.4.5.7 "the latest and last (barring any critical fixes needed) hotfix for the Bigger and Boulder update", with "a heavy focus on balance". The highlights from the official changelog:
- New items, including Daybloom Staff, Glacier Fang, Clay Bud Staff, Arc Surge, Ouroboros Ring, Restoration Shield and many new accessories.
- Gem staves reworked. Each gem now enchants staff shots with its own effect, gem robes add their effect too, and staves cost about 30% less metal.
- Kinship Peaches that empower pals from the Palworld crossover.
- Guide To Old Style Parkour, an item that restores some movement techniques removed in 1.4.5.
- Loadout equipment sharing: favourite equipment to share it between loadouts.
- Two new secret seeds, plus fixes for seed combinations like "dual daring dangers".
- Respawn skip: dead players can skip the respawn timer when no great danger is near.
What changed for multiplayer and servers in 1.4.5.7?
The changelog has a dedicated multiplayer section, and most of it affects servers directly:
| Change | Why it matters for your server |
|---|---|
| Items meant for a specific player are briefly reserved for them (mining drops, critters, Extractinator) | Fewer arguments over who grabbed the loot |
| Empty servers only start updating when a client fully connects | Less work for an idle server |
| Servers log a message when a player disconnects before joining the world | Easier to diagnose failed joins in the console |
| Servers no longer reserve slots for clients that connect and immediately disconnect | Fixes phantom full servers |
| Servers stop sending data to slots whose clients disconnected | Cleaner networking |
| Fixed a malicious packet exploit | Security fix, update public servers promptly |
| Better NPC damage handling on high latency servers, reducing desyncs | Smoother boss fights for distant players |
| Player direction changes and hotkey dashes now sync properly | Fewer visual desyncs |
| Torch God's flames only hurt the player doing the trial | No more burning bystanders |
The malicious packet fix alone is a good reason to update any server that strangers can join.
What is Terraria 1.4.5.8?
1.4.5.8 is a small hotfix released for PC a few days after 1.4.5.7, ahead of Gamescom in late August. Re-Logic's Loki announced it on X, and the dedicated server download on terraria.org is now terraria-server-1458.zip. Fixes included a crash with the Acorn Slingshot and changes to the Clay Bud and Last Prism. Re-Logic's August State of the Game says console and mobile builds of 1.4.5.7 and 1.4.5.8 were submitted for certification and would follow on those platforms.
Which server version should you run?
| Server type | Version to run (October 2026) | Players use |
|---|---|---|
| Vanilla | Terraria dedicated server 1.4.5.8 | Terraria on PC, latest version |
| TShock | TShock 6.2.1 | Terraria on PC, latest version |
| tModLoader | Stable v2026.08.3.0, still based on Terraria 1.4.4 | tModLoader on Steam, same version |
- Vanilla: terraria.org only offers the 1.4.5.8 server now, which matches up to date PC players. A version difference blocks the join, which our Terraria server version mismatch fix covers.
- TShock: TShock 6.2.1 released on 27 September 2026 "for Terraria 1.4.5.8", upgrading to OTAPI 3.3.14. Earlier 6.x builds target older 1.4.5 versions, so update TShock or your players cannot join. TShock 6 needs .NET 9. Our TShock commands guide covers setup.
- tModLoader: the monthly stable release on 1 October 2026 is still for Terraria 1.4.4. The 1.4.5 port is in progress on the
1.4.5-devbeta branch. See when tModLoader updates to 1.4.5.
What this means for your server
- Update vanilla servers to 1.4.5.8 so PC players on the latest version can join, and to pick up the packet exploit fix.
- Update TShock to 6.2.1 and check that each plugin you use has a build for it. The TShock team warned that plugins built for TShock 5 almost certainly need rebuilding for TShock 6.
- Leave tModLoader servers alone. Modded servers stay on the 1.4.4 based release until the tModLoader team ships 1.4.5 support. Calamity and other big mods run on that version.
- Back up worlds before updating. Worlds opened on a newer version should not be expected to work on older servers.
- Console and mobile players need their platform's 1.4.5.7 update before they can match a PC server, and console crossplay is not out yet. See Terraria crossplay on a dedicated server.
Updating on a GamezServers Terraria server
Our Terraria servers do not update by themselves, so a game patch never breaks your world mid session. After a patch, press Update game in the panel. Vanilla, tModLoader and TShock each update to their newest release, and your worlds, mods and plugins stay. You can also pin a version with the Terraria version or tModLoader version setting. Plans start at 4.99 USD a month for 2 GB. See Terraria server hosting.
