To change Satisfactory session settings on a dedicated server, open Server Manager in the game, sign in with the admin password, and use the Server Settings tab for Auto Pause, autosaves and the passwords. To turn on Creative Mode (formerly Advanced Game Settings) for an existing factory, go to Manage Saves, tick Enable Creative Mode under Load Game, and load the save. That cannot be undone and disables achievements for that save, and the change only sticks once the server saves.
What you can change on an existing save
| Setting | Existing save? | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Server name, player password | Yes | Server Manager, Server Settings |
| Admin password | Yes, while you know the old one | Server Manager, Server Settings |
| Auto Pause, autosave on disconnect, autosave interval | Yes | Server Manager, Server Settings |
| Auto-Load Session Name | Yes | Server Manager, Server Settings |
| Turning Creative Mode on | Yes, once | Manage Saves, Load Game |
| Creative Mode options (No Power, flight, unlocks) | Yes, after it is on | In game, from the pause menu |
| Turning Creative Mode off | Never | It is permanent for that save |
| Player limit | Yes | Game.ini, with the server stopped |
| Starting location | New game | Picked in Create Game |

What goes where
| What | Stored in | File |
|---|---|---|
| Server name, admin and player passwords, Auto Pause, autosave settings, which session loads | The server's settings save | ServerSettings.<port>.sav in the save folder |
| Your factory, and whether Creative Mode is on | The session save | <session>_autosave_0.sav and other .sav files |
| Player limit | Config file | FactoryGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini |
| Autosaves kept, timeouts | Config file | Engine.ini in the same folder |
On Linux the save folder is ~/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/, and on Windows %LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\server\. Server Manager settings are not in any file you edit by hand.
Step 1: Back up first
Open Manage Saves and download your latest save, or run server.SaveGame BeforeChanges in the Server Manager Console to make a named save. This matters most before Creative Mode, because there is no way to turn it off again on that save. A copy made before the switch is the only way back to a normal save with achievements.
Step 2: Change server settings in Server Manager
- Open Satisfactory and click Server Manager on the main menu.
- Select your server and sign in with the admin password.
- Open Server Settings and change what you need: Auto Pause, Auto-Save on Player Disconnect, the autosave interval, the player password, the server name.
- Click Apply.
These take effect straight away, with no restart. Set Auto-Load Session Name to your factory's session so the right world loads after every restart.
Step 3: Turn on Creative Mode for an existing save
- In Server Manager, open Manage Saves.
- Select the save you want.
- Tick Enable Creative Mode below Load Game and accept the warning.
- Click Load Game.
Once it loads, players open the creative options from the pause menu in game. The Satisfactory wiki splits them in two:
| Applies to | Options |
|---|---|
| Only the player who sets it | No Build Cost, Flight Mode, God Mode, Give Items, keep inventory options |
| Everyone on the server | No Power, No Fuel, No Unlock Cost, unlock all tiers, MAM research or AWESOME Shop items, disable arachnids, set starting tier or game phase |
Once it is on, every player on the server can open these options, not just the admin. Agree with your group who changes the shared ones.
Step 4: Save with it on
This is the trap. Creative Mode and its options are stored in the session save, not in the server's settings. If the server restarts before it saves, it loads the last save from before the change, and your options are gone.
After turning Creative Mode on or changing a shared option, save straight away from the Console:
server.SaveGame MyFactory_creative
Then set Auto-Load Session Name to the session that holds that save, so a restart loads the creative version and not an older autosave.
Changing the admin password
Sign in, open Server Settings, and set a new admin password. You need the current one to do it. If nobody knows it any more, the only way is to stop the server and delete ServerSettings.<port>.sav, which resets the name, passwords and server settings but leaves your factory saves alone. The full steps are in how to reset a Satisfactory server admin password.
Common problems
- Creative options vanished after a restart: the server loaded a save from before you changed them. Save with
server.SaveGameright after a change, and check Auto-Load Session Name. - The Enable Creative Mode box is missing: that save already has Creative Mode on.
- Achievements stopped: Creative Mode is on for this save. Load the copy from before you turned it on.
- The server loads the wrong factory after a restart: Auto-Load Session Name points at another session.
- Player limit went back to 4: you edited
Game.iniwhile the server was running, and it wrote its own copy on shutdown. Stop, edit, start.
Changing settings on GamezServers
On a GamezServers Satisfactory server, the server is claimed with the Admin password from your panel on first start, and on every start after that the panel signs in with it to set the server name and, when filled in, the Join password. So if you change the admin password in Server Manager, put the same one in the panel, or the name and join password are left as they are. The player limit and autosaves kept come from the panel too. Creative Mode, Auto Pause and the rest you set in Server Manager as normal, after a one click Backup. More on each option in Satisfactory dedicated server settings.
FAQ
Can I turn on Creative Mode on an existing Satisfactory save?
Yes. In Server Manager, open Manage Saves, tick Enable Creative Mode below Load Game, and load the save. It cannot be turned off again on that save.
Does Creative Mode disable achievements in Satisfactory?
Yes, permanently for that save. Keep a copy from before you turn it on if achievements matter to you.
Who can use Creative Mode on a dedicated server?
The admin turns it on, and then every player on the server can open the options. Some, like flight, only affect yourself, and others, like No Power, affect everyone.
Why did my Satisfactory settings reset after a restart?
Creative options are stored in the save, so a restart loads an older save if nobody saved after the change. Run server.SaveGame right after changing them.
