To reset a Satisfactory server admin password, stop the server, delete the ServerSettings.7777.sav file in the server's save folder, and start it again. The server comes back unclaimed, and you claim it in Server Manager with a new name and admin password. Your factory saves are separate files and are not touched. The same fix works if a friend or a stranger claimed your server before you did.
Why you might need this
- You forgot the admin password you set when you claimed the server.
- Someone else connected first and claimed it. In Satisfactory, the first person to connect in Server Manager becomes the owner.
- The person who claimed it left the group and nobody else knows the password.
There is no "forgot password" button in the game, and no console command that changes the admin password. Resetting the server settings file is the official way.
What the reset removes and keeps
Deleting ServerSettings.7777.sav resets the server's own settings:

So after the reset you set up the name, passwords and settings again, then load your save.
Step 1: Stop the server and back up
Stop the server completely. Then copy the whole save folder somewhere safe:

Step 2: Delete ServerSettings.7777.sav
In that folder, find ServerSettings.7777.sav. The number is the server's port, so if you run on a different port, the file is named after that one, for example ServerSettings.7778.sav. Delete it. Leave every other .sav file alone, since those are your factory saves.
Step 3: Start the server and claim it again
- Start the server and wait for it to finish loading.
- In Satisfactory, open Server Manager. If the server is already in your list, it now shows as unclaimed.
- Claim it with a server name and a new admin password. Save the password in a password manager or somewhere your group can find it.
- Set a player password again if you used one.
Do this quickly, before sharing the address, so nobody else claims it first.
Step 4: Load your factory
- Open Manage Saves in Server Manager.
- Select your latest save and click Load Game.
- Check the server settings and turn Auto Pause back off if you want production to run with nobody online.
Your factory carries on from the last save.
Friends see a certificate warning
Resetting also makes a new security certificate. The next time friends connect, the game may warn them that the server's certificate changed. This is expected after a reset. They can accept it, or remove the server from their Server Manager list and add it again.
Keeping it from happening again
- Claim before you share. Connect and claim a new server yourself before sending the address to anyone.
- Store the admin password somewhere shared. A pinned message in your group chat or a password manager works.
- Use a player password. That way random players who find your address cannot join, and only people you trust are around.
Resetting on a GamezServers server
The same steps work in your browser:
- Press Backup, then Stop in the control panel.
- Open the Files tab and go to
.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/. - Delete
ServerSettings.7777.sav. - Press Start, then claim the server again in Server Manager and load your save.
If something goes wrong, restore the backup from step 1 and try again. If friends split the bill with you and made accounts with the email they paid with, they can reach the files too, so anyone in the group can do this.

How do I reset my Satisfactory server admin password?

Will resetting the server delete my factory?
No. Your saves are separate .sav files. Only the server name, passwords and server settings reset. Load your save again from Manage Saves afterwards.
