Can't find your Midnight Ghost Hunt server? Match the region filter, check the name and password, update after patches and open the beacon and query ports.

If your Midnight Ghost Hunt server is running but nobody can find it, the region filter is the first suspect: the browser only lists servers in the region you are filtering by, so a server set to Eastern Europe is invisible to someone browsing North America. After that, check the server finished starting, the game name is what people are searching for, the server is on the same build as the players after a patch, and the query and beacon ports are open.
Fix 1: The region filter
Every Midnight Ghost Hunt dedicated server is launched with a -Region value, and the in game Server Browser filters by region. There are nine:
| Regions |
|---|
| North America, South America |
| Western Europe, Northern Europe, Eastern Europe |
| Middle East, Asia, Africa, Oceania |
Two ways this goes wrong:
- The server's region is not where your players are. Many server setups default to a region nobody chose on purpose. Set it to where most of the group lives and restart.
- The player's filter is on a different region. Even with the right server setting, each player must switch the browser's region to match.
The region is a label for the browser, not a location. It does not move the machine, so pick the one your players actually filter by.

Fix 2: Wait for the server to finish starting
The server is not listed until it is fully up. In the log (MidnightGhostHunt\Saved\Logs\MidnightGhostHunt.log) or your host's console, wait for a line containing:
IpNetDriver listening on port
Then give the list a minute and press refresh. The first start after an update takes longer, because the server is checking and installing files.
Fix 3: Search for the exact name
The browser search matches the game name from the -Gamename launch argument. Check:
- It is at least three characters.
- It is distinctive. "Dedicated_Server_01" style defaults blend in with other servers. Something like
Discord_Ghost_Nightis easy to spot. - Players type it the same way. Underscores and spaces count.
Fix 4: Update after a game patch
When Vaulted Sky Games releases a patch, players update automatically and the server does not, unless it is set to. An old server stops matching new clients. Depending on the patch, it may drop out of their list or refuse the join.
- Self hosted: stop the server, run SteamCMD with
+app_update 1118810 validate, and start it again. - Hosted with auto update: just restart. The update check runs at start.
If a patch dropped and your server vanished the same day, this is almost certainly why.
Fix 5: Password problems
A server with a password still shows in the browser, but a broken password can stop it from starting properly or block every join. Stick to letters, numbers, dashes and underscores. Spaces or symbols in -password are the classic cause of a server that "starts" but nobody can get into. Changes only apply after a restart.
Fix 6: Open all three ports
Midnight Ghost Hunt uses three ports, and each one does a different job:
| Port | Default | Typical symptom when blocked |
|---|---|---|
| Game | 7777 | Server is listed, but joining times out |
| Query | 27015 | Server does not appear in the browser |
| Beacon | 7787 | Server appears but menu or join info fails |
On a home server, forward all three as UDP to the PC running it and allow the server through the firewall. If you run more than one server, each needs its own set. Our port forwarding guide covers router screens, and if your provider uses carrier grade NAT no forward will work; hosting without port forwarding explains the alternatives.
Fix 7: Linked accounts for crossplay
Steam and Epic players can share a server, but players link their accounts in game for crossplay to work. If only the Epic players in your group cannot see the server while Steam players can (or the reverse), have them check the account linking in the game's settings and restart the game.
Quick diagnosis
| What you see | Look at |
|---|---|
| Nobody can see it | Server not finished starting, query port, region |
| Some players see it, others do not | Their region filter, crossplay linking |
| It vanished after a patch | Server needs updating |
| Listed but join fails | Game or beacon port, password characters |
| Listed with the wrong name | -Gamename value, restart after changing |

On a hosted server
On a Midnight Ghost Hunt server from GamezServers, the ports are set up for you, so fix 6 does not apply. The other fixes are panel settings: Region, Game Name, Server Password and Auto Update, which is on by default and pulls the latest build on every start. Change a value, restart from the panel, and watch the live console for the listening line. For the full set of options, including bots and modes, see our server settings guide. FAQ
Why can't I find my Midnight Ghost Hunt server?
Usually the region. The browser only shows servers in the region you filter by, so match your filter to the server's Region setting.
Can I join a Midnight Ghost Hunt server by IP?
The game is built around the server browser, so plan on finding the server by name and region rather than typing an address.
How long does a new server take to appear?
Usually a minute or so after the log shows IpNetDriver listening on port. The first start after an update takes longer.
Why did my server disappear after an update?
It is on an older build than the players. Update it with SteamCMD, or restart it if auto update is on.
