How to join your Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord server

  1. 1

  2. 2

    Open the Custom Server List.

  3. 3

    Search for your server name.

  4. 4

Select it and join, entering the game password from your config if you set one.

Common problems

Server vanished from the list after a few months? The auth token expires. Run customserver.gettoken again and paste the new one.

The config file the server reads is tdm_config.txt in the server's bin folder. Despite the name it sets any mode, not just TDM.

After a game patch players can't join an old server. Restart it so auto update pulls the matching build.

The dedicated server is multiplayer only. It can't host the campaign or campaign co-op.

Server not responding

Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.

Use the server address

Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.

No port forwarding or firewall changes

Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord server hosting, explained

Bannerlord's multiplayer is where its directional melee gets tested against people who block back. Custom servers run Siege, Team Deathmatch, Captain, Skirmish, Duel and Battle. Captain gives each player a squad of troops to command, Skirmish and Battle are round based team fights where one life matters, and Siege throws dozens of players at castle walls with ladders and rams. Clans use their own servers for practice, events and tournaments.

One thing to know before you rent: the TaleWorlds dedicated server is multiplayer only. It does not run the single player campaign or any campaign co-op. What it does well is give your community a fixed place with your rules, instead of whatever matchmaking hands out. Duel servers with a strict honor code, Siege nights for a whole Discord and private Skirmish scrims all work this way.

Every custom server needs an auth token tied to your TaleWorlds account. You get it in game with `customserver.gettoken` and paste it into its own field in the panel. Server name, game type, map list, passwords, player cap and round settings all live in tdm_config.txt, which you edit in the file manager. Auto update keeps the server on the same version as players, and the live console shows joins and map changes.

TaleWorlds suggests about 4 GB for small modes like Skirmish and Duel and 8 GB for big ones like Siege, Team Deathmatch and Captain, where many more agents are on the field. That lines up with our plans. If you run large Siege lobbies all day or swap maps often, 12 GB gives you headroom. You can change plans any time, and the difference is prorated.

Common questions

Can a Bannerlord dedicated server run campaign co-op?

No. The official dedicated server only runs the multiplayer modes: Siege, Team Deathmatch, Captain, Skirmish, Duel and Battle.

How do I get the auth token?

Start Bannerlord multiplayer, open the console with Alt and the tilde key, and type customserver.gettoken. The token is saved in Documents/Mount & Blade II Bannerlord/Tokens. Paste its contents into the panel.

Why did my server disappear from the list?

Tokens expire after three months. Generate a new one in game, paste it into the panel and restart.

How many players can a Bannerlord server hold?

You set MaxNumberOfPlayers in the config. Siege and Team Deathmatch are built for big lobbies, while Skirmish and Captain are small team modes with fixed sides.

How do I change the game mode or maps?

Edit tdm_config.txt in the file manager. Set GameType to the mode you want and add maps with add_map_to_automated_battle_pool, then restart.

How do players find my server?

In Multiplayer, open the Custom Server List and search for the name. Set a GamePassword in the config if it is just for your clan.

Can I load multiplayer mods?

Our server type starts the official Native and Multiplayer modules, so plan on official content with your own maps rotation and rules.

How do I admin the server?

Set an AdminPassword in the config. In the Custom Server List, right click your server, choose Join as Admin and enter that password to get admin controls.

Is GamezServers affiliated with Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord?

No. You rent and control your own dedicated Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.

Can my friends and I split the cost?

Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.

Can I build a custom plan?

Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.

Can I pay once instead of a subscription?

Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.

How fast is setup, really?

Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
