Common problems

If the server is not in the browser yet, open the console and type connect 203.0.113.24 to join directly.

Everyone must run the current Steam build. Keep Auto Update on and restart the server after a patch so players are not blocked.

Map and match options live in the config files under Battalion/Config. Edit them in the file manager with the server stopped.

Server not responding

Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.

Use the server address

Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.

No port forwarding or firewall changes

Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.

BATTALION: Legacy server hosting, explained

BATTALION: Legacy is the final, free to play version of Battalion 1944, released by Bulkhead in 2022. It is a fast, arena style World War II shooter in the mold of the original Call of Duty: no killstreaks, no loadout grind, just Kar98s, Thompsons and grenades. The core is Wartide, a 5v5 bomb mode where attackers try to destroy one of two objectives over a long round based match.

Official matchmaking is quiet these days, so the game lives on community servers. Clans use them for scrims and practice, small leagues run cups on them, and groups of friends who loved the game keep a server up for evening matches. Because the game is free, filling a 5v5 is a matter of sending the Steam link to a Discord channel.

The panel sets the server name, the admin password and automatic updates, so the server stays on the build players have. Match settings and maps are in the config files under Battalion/Config, which you edit in the file manager or over SFTP. With the admin password you can run matches yourself from in game instead of waiting for someone else to.

This is an Unreal Engine shooter with small teams, so it does not need much. 2 GB is enough for practice with a few players, 4 GB covers a full 5v5 with spectators or a caster, and 6 GB gives a busy community server room to spare. There is no reason to pay for more than that. The server starts quickly, so a restart between maps or matches is painless.

Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.

Can I pay once instead of a subscription?

Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.

How fast is setup, really?

Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
