How to join your Modiverse server
- 1
Launch Modiverse from Steam.
- 2
Open the multiplayer server list from the main menu.
- 3
Find your server by the name you set in the panel and join.
- 4
If it does not show, add
203.0.113.24as a favorite in Steam under View, Game Servers, then connect from there.
Common problems
Keep Auto Update on. If players see a version mismatch, restart the server so it pulls the current Steam build.
The server name is capped at 32 characters. Longer names get rejected by the panel, so keep it short.
Server side content and settings live in KJMod/Binaries/Linux/ServerData. Back it up before you change ServerConfiguration.json.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Modiverse server hosting, explained
Modiverse is a physics sandbox in the spirit of the classic prop building games. You get a physgun, gravity gun, ropes, wheels and thrusters, plus props, NPCs and player models, and on top of free building it ships with ready modes: TTT, Deathrun, Sandbox, VanillaRP, EvilGuys and Fantastic Fantasy Scroller. It costs less than a dollar on Steam, which makes it an easy pick for a group that wants a cheap night of TTT.
Be honest with yourself about the state of the game before you rent. Modiverse entered Early Access in February 2021 and the developers have not posted an update in years, so the player base is small and public servers are rare. That is exactly why a private server helps: if your group wants to play, you need somewhere that is up when you are, without one person hosting and everyone dropping when they quit.
The panel gives you the server name, max players from 2 to 128, and auto update. Everything else, including ServerConfiguration.json and any server side content, lives in the ServerData folder you can open in the file manager or over SFTP. The live console shows joins and errors, and one click backups keep a copy before you experiment with settings. Start, stop and restart buttons sit right next to them.
Memory follows how much physics is going on. A TTT or Deathrun group with a dozen players runs on 4 GB. Sandbox sessions where people spawn and weld lots of props are better on 6 GB. Keep 8 GB for roleplay maps or big sandbox servers that actually fill toward the top of the slot range. You can change plans any time, and the bill is prorated.

Common questions
How many players can a Modiverse server have?
Between 2 and 128, set with Max Players in the panel. TTT and Deathrun play best with 8 to 24.
Which game modes come with Modiverse?
TTT, Deathrun, Sandbox, VanillaRP, EvilGuys and Fantastic Fantasy Scroller are included in the Early Access build.
Is Modiverse still being updated?
Not actively. It is still in Early Access and the last developer update on Steam is several years old, so expect a small community and plan to bring your own group.
How much does the game cost players?
It sells for about a dollar on Steam, so everyone in your group can pick it up cheaply.
Does the server keep itself updated?
Yes, with Auto Update on it checks Steam for a new build every time it starts.
Where are the server settings?
In ServerConfiguration.json inside the ServerData folder. Edit it in the file manager and restart.
Does Modiverse support custom content?
The game has a mod kit and Steam Workshop support. How much of it works on a dedicated server depends on the content, so test it on a backup first.
Is GamezServers affiliated with Modiverse?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated Modiverse server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
