Common problems
The DMP client and server versions must match. If you get a protocol or version error, update the client from d-mp.org.
If your group runs parts mods, set Mod Pack Mode so the server checks that everyone has the same mods, or players will see missing parts and vessels that won't load.
DMP is for the original Kerbal Space Program on version 1.12. It won't load in KSP 2.
When orbit fills up with spent stages, run /dekessler in the panel console to clear debris for everyone.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Modding your Kerbal Space Program (DMP) server
DMP is itself a mod, and most groups run parts and visual mods on top. The server's mod pack mode can check that every player has the same mods, from CKAN or the GameData folder.
Kerbal Space Program (DMP) server hosting, explained
Dark MultiPlayer (DMP) is a fan made, open source mod that adds multiplayer to Kerbal Space Program. It isn't made by or tied to Squad or Private Division, and every player needs their own copy of KSP plus the DMP client mod. Everyone shares one universe: build rockets in your own hangar, then meet friends in orbit, dock with their station or race them to the Mun. It works with the final KSP 1.12 release.
Time warp is the hard problem in multiplayer KSP, and DMP's answer is subspace warping: each player warps on their own clock and can sync forward to others later. You can also use master controlled warp, vote based warp or turn warp off, all through the Warp Mode setting. A dedicated server keeps the shared universe saved between sessions, so a station built on Friday is still in orbit on Monday.
The panel sets game mode (sandbox, science or career), difficulty, server name, warp mode and mod pack mode. Mod pack mode matters for groups with parts packs: set it to CKAN or GameData and the server checks that players have matching mods before they can join, which saves a lot of broken craft. Settings and the universe folder are plain files you can back up or edit over SFTP.
The DMP server is tiny. It relays vessel updates and stores the universe, while all the physics happens on each player's PC. A small group in sandbox runs on 1 GB, and a career universe with several players, stations and debris is comfortable on 2 GB. Only big public servers with lots of players and mod checks need 4 GB. Spend money on your own RAM for heavy parts mods instead.

Common questions
Do players need Kerbal Space Program to use DMP?
Yes. DMP is a mod, so every player needs their own copy of KSP plus the DMP client installed in their GameData folder.
Is Dark MultiPlayer official?
No. It is a community made open source mod with no tie to Squad or Private Division. We host the server software only.
How many players can join a DMP server?
Up to 20 by default, set with maxPlayers in the server's Settings.txt. The server stays light even with a full house, since the physics runs on each player's PC.
What is subspace warp?
It lets each player time warp on their own. Players who warp ahead end up in a later subspace, and others can sync forward to them to meet up.
Can we use parts mods?
Yes, as long as everyone runs the same ones. Set Mod Pack Mode to CKAN or GameData so the server checks players' mods when they connect.
Does DMP work with Kerbal Space Program 2?
No. DMP is a mod for the original Kerbal Space Program, version 1.12.
Why can't I connect after updating?
The client and server versions must match. Make sure every player has the client version that matches the server, from d-mp.org.
How do I keep strangers out?
Set a server password in the panel and share it only with your crew. For a stricter list, turn on the whitelist in the server's settings file in the file manager, then add each player with /whitelist add and their player name in the console.
Is GamezServers affiliated with Kerbal Space Program (DMP)?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated Kerbal Space Program (DMP) server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
