Common problems
Scenario folder named with numbers? A Workshop scenario like Reforged Eden 2 arrives as a numbered folder. Rename it before you upload it and use that name in dedicated.yaml.
Scenario changes don't apply? A scenario only applies to a new save. Change it before the first start, or start a new save.
Warping between playfields times out? Big scenarios load slowly. Raising TimeoutBootingPfServer in dedicated.yaml helps.
Server name is limited to 20 characters in the panel. Use the description for the rest.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Modding your Empyrion - Galactic Survival server
Empyrion's biggest custom content is full scenarios from the Steam Workshop, which replace the galaxy, blocks and progression. Upload them to Content/Scenarios and select them in dedicated.yaml.
Empyrion - Galactic Survival server hosting, explained
Empyrion: Galactic Survival is a space sandbox from Eleon Game Studios. You start stranded on a planet, survive long enough to build a base, then work up to small vessels, capital ships and space stations that travel between planets and star systems. Multiplayer can be co-op, with a faction building a fleet together, or PvP, with rival factions fighting over resources in PvP zones.
A dedicated server lets the galaxy persist and lets people play on their own time. The panel sets the server name, password, max players, world seed, description, the experimental branch and a Telnet admin console you can switch on. The server's dedicated.yaml is open in the file manager for deeper rules like difficulty, PvP playfields and which scenario the galaxy uses.
Many groups don't play the vanilla galaxy at all. Reforged Eden 2 is the most popular community scenario, with a redesigned galaxy, new blocks and a much longer progression. To run it, copy the scenario folder from your Workshop downloads, rename it, upload it to Content/Scenarios and set it as the custom scenario in dedicated.yaml before the first start, since a scenario only applies to a new save.
Empyrion is demanding. Each planet or space area that players occupy runs as its own playfield process, so memory scales with how spread out your players are and how big their structures get. A small group sticking together fits 8 GB. Bigger factions spread across systems, or a heavy scenario, want 12 GB, a full 20 player Reforged Eden 2 server 16 GB, and a large community 24 GB.

Common questions
How many players can join an Empyrion server?
We default to 20 players and you can change it in the panel. More players spread across more planets means more playfields loaded at once, so size the plan with the cap.
Why does Empyrion use so much RAM?
Every occupied planet or space area runs as a separate playfield server. When players split up across a system, several of those run at the same time.
How do I run Reforged Eden 2?
Copy the scenario folder from your Workshop downloads, rename it, upload it to Content/Scenarios and set CustomScenario in dedicated.yaml to that name. Then start a new save.
Do players need the scenario installed?
No. When players join, the server sends them the scenario's shared data, so they do not need to subscribe to it on the Steam Workshop. They only need it for single player or co-op hosting.
What is the Telnet option for?
It opens a remote admin console so you can run server commands without being in game. Turn it on in the panel only if you need it.
Can I use the experimental branch?
Yes. Set Version to experimental in the panel. Players then need the experimental branch on Steam as well.
Can I change the world seed?
Yes, set Game Seed in the panel to a number up to 7 digits. It only affects a new save, so set it before the galaxy is generated.
Is GamezServers affiliated with Empyrion - Galactic Survival?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated Empyrion - Galactic Survival server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
