txAdmin, set up before you open it

How do I log in to txAdmin?

Your panel shows a txAdmin card with its address and your login: the username admin and a password we generate. txAdmin makes that owner account on its first start, so there is no setup PIN and no Cfx.re sign in to get through.

To change the password later, open txAdmin, click your name at the top right and pick Change password. txAdmin only reads the generated one on the first start.

Which recipe should I pick?

QBCore for most roleplay servers. ESX if the scripts you bought say ESX. Qbox if you already know you want it. CFX Default for freeroam or racing. Your license key and database are already filled in, so leave those pages as they are and press Next until the recipe deploys, then Start Server.

A recipe is a one time install. To try a different framework later, open Settings, then FXServer in txAdmin and press Reset next to Server Data Folder. Setup runs again into a new folder, and your old files stay in place.

Your Cfx.re license key and database

Every FiveM server needs a free license key. Sign in at portal.cfx.re, open Server Keys, generate one and paste it at checkout. It starts with cfxk_. We pass it to txAdmin, and once a recipe is deployed you change it in txAdmin's CFG Editor as sv_licenseKey as well as in Settings.

QBCore, Qbox and ESX need a MySQL database, so every FiveM server runs its own, right inside the server. It starts and stops with it, it is part of every backup, and recipes get its details prefilled. You can see them under Settings to import a script's .sql files with HeidiSQL.

Running the server day to day

txAdmin handles restarts, bans, whitelists, admins and scheduled restarts, with a live console for commands. To add a script, upload its folder to resources in Files, add an ensure line in the CFG Editor, then press Refresh and Start next to it on txAdmin's Resources page. Only that script restarts, and players stay on.

Standard gives you 8 GB and 32 slots for $19.99 a month, the size for a typical QBCore, Qbox or ESX server. Many custom cars and maps want 12 GB, and the most a free Cfx.re key allows is 48 players. Name your server at portal.cfx.re, because the FiveM list takes its name and description from there.

How to join your FiveM server

  1. 1

Install FiveM from fivem.net on a PC that owns Grand Theft Auto V, and start it once so it can set itself up.

  2. 2

Press F8 in the FiveM main menu to open the console.

  3. 3

Type connect 203.0.113.24:30120 and press Enter.

  4. 4

Wait for the server's files to download the first time. Once your server is in the FiveM server list, friends can also search for My FiveM Server.

Common problems

Server is not in the list yet

Connecting with F8 and connect 203.0.113.24:30120 always works. A new server can take a while to appear in the FiveM server list, and it only shows while the server is started in txAdmin.

Name says "Missing server data"

FiveM now takes the name, description, tags and banner in its server list from the Cfx Portal. The server owner signs in at portal.cfx.re with the account that made the license key, opens Servers and fills in the server's details.

Stuck downloading or "Couldn't load resource"

Big roleplay servers download hundreds of megabytes on the first join. Let it finish. If it keeps failing, clear the FiveM cache (the data folder's cache, server-cache and server-cache-priv folders) and join again.

Your GTA V must be up to date

FiveM needs a legal, up to date copy of Grand Theft Auto V for PC from Steam, Epic Games or Rockstar Games. Story mode does not need to be finished.

Server not responding

Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.

Use the server address

Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.

No port forwarding or firewall changes

Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.

Common questions

How much does a FiveM server cost?

FiveM servers start at $2.50 for 3 days, with no subscription. Monthly plans are 4 GB for up to 8 players at $9.99, 8 GB for up to 16 players at $19.99, 12 GB for up to 24 players at $29.99 and 16 GB for up to 24 players at $39.99. Pay monthly or prepaid, split the bill with friends, and cancel any time.

Is txAdmin included?

Yes. Pick the txAdmin server type and it is set up on your server's own ports, with a login shown in your panel.

What is my txAdmin username and password?

The username is admin and the password is the txAdmin password in your panel. Change it later inside txAdmin from your name at the top right.

Do I need a Cfx.re license key?

Yes. Every FiveM server needs one. It is free at portal.cfx.re under Server Keys, and you paste it at checkout.

Can I switch from QBCore to ESX later?

Yes. In txAdmin open Settings, then FXServer, and press Reset next to Server Data Folder. Setup runs again into a new folder and your old files stay.

Can I run FiveM without txAdmin?

Yes. Pick the Plain FXServer type for just the server and its server.cfg, for owners bringing their own resources.

Why does my server say Missing server data?

FiveM takes the name and description in its list from the Cfx Portal. Sign in at portal.cfx.re with the account that made your key, open Servers and fill in its details.

Do I need a license key?

Yes. Every FiveM server needs a free license key from the Cfx.re portal (portal.cfx.re). Sign in with your Cfx.re account, open Server Keys, generate one and paste it at checkout. You can change it later in Settings.

Can I run QBCore, Qbox or ESX?

Yes. Choose the txAdmin server type, open txAdmin from your panel with the login it shows you and pick a recipe. It downloads the framework and sets up the server for you. To switch frameworks later, reset the server data folder in txAdmin's FXServer settings and run setup again.

How many players can join?

Up to 48, which is the most a free Cfx.re license key allows. Plans are sized by RAM, so pick more memory for heavy scripts and maps rather than more slots.

Can my friends and I split the cost?

Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.

Can I build a custom plan?

Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.

Can I pay once instead of a subscription?

Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.

How fast is setup, really?

Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
