FiveM for GTA V Enhanced entered early access on 21 July 2026, Cfx.re confirmed in its early access announcement. It runs on a separate launcher with a new server called Cfx Server, a rebuilt OneSync and a new C# runtime. Asset Escrow is not in early access yet, so most live roleplay servers should keep running FiveM on GTA V Legacy for now.

What is FiveM for GTA V Enhanced?

FiveM for GTA V Enhanced is a new version of FiveM that runs on Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced, the newer PC edition of the game, instead of GTA V Legacy. Cfx.re first announced it on 18 March 2026 in a development update, describing it as a rebuild of many core parts of the platform with tighter integration with the game and the Rockstar Games Launcher.

The timeline so far:

Date What happened Source
18 March 2026 First development update: Enhanced support "in the coming months", early access first Cfx.re forum
1 July 2026 Development update #2: new .NET 10 C# runtime, new VoIP, WebSocket connection handshake Cfx.re forum
15 July 2026 Development update #3: release date set for 21 July, server renamed to Cfx Server Cfx.re forum
21 July 2026 Early access released, "available for everyone" Cfx.re forum

Players download it from fivem.net with the Download FiveM for GTAV Enhanced button. Cfx.re says plainly that the early access version "will contain bugs and missing features", and it collects feedback in the Discussions tab of a dedicated GitHub repository.

What changed for FiveM servers?

The server side changes are bigger than the client side ones. These are the ones that matter if you run a server.

Cfx Server replaces FXServer

Enhanced servers run a new server build called Cfx Server, downloaded separately from the usual FXServer artifacts. Cfx.re says txAdmin is "still embedded so the setup experience remains the same", so recipes, the live console, bans and scheduled restarts work the way you know them.

OneSync was overhauled

According to the March update, OneSync was rebuilt to use less bandwidth, CPU and memory, and every Enhanced server runs only the high performance synchronization mode. Older sync modes do not carry forward. The network sync rate can now go up to 120 updates per second, where Legacy runs at 30 (or 40 with sv_useAccurateSends). Large slot counts still need an Element Club subscription: Platinum is required for up to 2048 slots.

A new C# runtime and VoIP

The Mono C# runtime is being replaced by one based on .NET 10, with backward compatibility for existing resources. Voice chat was rebuilt with parity for existing voice natives. Cfx.re says scripts written in Lua, JavaScript or C# with currently supported natives "will continue to work".

New connection handshake

Connection deferrals now use a WebSocket based handshake instead of UDP. Cfx.re asks server owners to adjust existing DDoS protection rules for it, and warns that the first connection to a server can take longer to load.

Developer mode

A new sv_devmode convar turns on development tools for all players, and limits the server to 8 slots so it cannot be used for a live server.

What is missing in early access?

The big gap is Asset Escrow. Cfx.re said in July that "Asset Escrow support will not be available at the start of early access" and will arrive in a later update. Escrow is how paid Tebex scripts, cars and maps are encrypted, so a server that relies on paid escrowed resources cannot simply move them over yet. Custom 3D assets also need converting for Enhanced, which Cfx.re handles with a tool called Alchemist, with details on escrowed asset conversion promised in later updates.

Cfx.re also said some parts of the FiveM code are moving from open to closed source because of the deeper game integration.

What this means for your server

For most servers, nothing has to change today. Here is how to decide.

Your server Recommendation
Live roleplay server with paid Tebex or escrowed scripts Stay on Legacy until Asset Escrow lands on Enhanced
Free and open source scripts only (QBCore, Qbox, ESX, ox) Test on Enhanced with a copy of your server, not your live one
Development or test server Try Cfx Server, use sv_devmode and report bugs
Brand new server Start on Legacy, where almost every resource and guide still applies

If you want to test, do it on a copy. Take a backup, clone the resources and database to a second server, and check your heaviest resources first: inventories, phones, vehicle packs and anything with custom streaming. Anything that depends on escrow will fail until support arrives.

Your players also need to be on the matching client. Legacy servers are joined with the normal FiveM client, and Enhanced servers with the new launcher, so announce any move well ahead in your Discord.

Running FiveM on GamezServers

Our FiveM servers run FXServer for GTA V Legacy, the version nearly every FiveM server and resource is built for, with txAdmin pinned to your ports and a MySQL database included. The FXServer build setting picks the recommended build, the latest one or an exact build number, and Update game installs it without touching your resources. If you are starting fresh, our FiveM hosting quick start covers the setup, and QBCore vs Qbox vs ESX helps you pick a framework.

FAQ

When did FiveM for GTA V Enhanced come out?

It entered early access on 21 July 2026. There is no date yet for a full release, and Cfx.re says it will keep fixing bugs and adding missing features during early access.

Does FiveM still work on GTA V Legacy?

Yes. The normal FiveM client and FXServer for GTA V Legacy keep working, and Enhanced uses its own separate launcher and server.

Can I use escrowed Tebex scripts on FiveM Enhanced?

Not yet. Asset Escrow was not part of early access and Cfx.re says it will arrive in a later update, so paid escrowed resources should stay on Legacy for now.

Do I need a new license key for Cfx Server?

None of the Enhanced development updates mention a new key type. Servers use a Cfx.re license key from portal.cfx.re, and our license key error guide covers the common key problems.

Will my QBCore or ESX scripts work on Enhanced?

Cfx.re says scripts using supported natives in Lua, JavaScript and C# continue to work, but test every resource on a copy first. Custom streamed assets need converting, and escrowed resources do not work yet.
