What changed in Palworld v1.0.4?

v1.0.4 was the largest post launch patch so far, with two new sub missions, fishing adjustments and a long list of fixes. For servers:

  • New server setting for building limits. "Added a server setting for administrators to set a per-player limit on the number of buildings." Pocketpair's configuration reference names it MaxBuildingLimitNum, where 0 means unlimited.
  • Fishing behaviour setting. "Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames" was added to World Settings. The configuration reference also lists FishingDifficultyRate from 0.1 to 1.0.
  • More no build zones. With building restrictions on, building is now blocked around the desert Field Boss Suzaku, the desert main mission cave and some Sakurajima mission spots.
  • Clearer version errors. "Version mismatch errors now show the version of the connection target," which makes our Palworld version mismatch fix much quicker.
  • Voice chat fix. "Fixed an issue where Voice Chat settings might not be applied correctly."
  • Server crash fix. "Fixed a server crash that could occur when sorting Pals."
  • Co-op guild fix. Joining players now correctly join the host's guild in co-op.
  • PC FPS cap. The default FPS cap on PC is now 120.

What changed in Palworld v1.0.3?

v1.0.3 was the first post launch patch focused on balance, which Forbes summed up on August 12 as "big buffs for way less grinding". The main points:

  • Several Jetragon related technologies now unlock at level 70 instead of 79, with cheaper Pal Gear to ride it.
  • The Aquatic Construction Kit unlocks at level 23 instead of 66, for 1 Ancient Technology Point instead of 4.
  • World Tree Holy Water lasts longer, weighs 0.1 instead of 1 and drops from more sources.
  • Trees give double Fiber, and crude oil extractors are cheaper and faster.
  • New server setting bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCamp, which turns off the suppression of enemy camps spawning near player bases.
  • Dedicated server fixes: Fast Travel could trigger during Tower Boss battles, Pals could appear to vibrate on clients, and Attack Chopper music could be heard from far away.

What changed in Palworld v1.0.1 and v1.0.2?

These were stability patches in the weeks after launch. v1.0.1 fixed "an issue where save data could be unintentionally discarded after certain operations." v1.0.2 fixed a case where "all players could be disconnected during the Panthalus battle on dedicated servers," a crash in the same fight, and reduced load in Sunreach. Two small builds on July 30 improved stability with mods on PC and fixed an infinite loading screen after the World Tree boss. Pocketpair noted those did not affect crossplay with other platforms.

What this means for your server

  1. Get to v1.0.5. Every patch needs the server and all players on the same version. Update the server, then have everyone update their game.
  2. Try the new limits on public servers. MaxBuildingLimitNum is a simple way to stop one player filling the map with structures, which also helps memory use.
  3. Re check voice chat. If bEnableVoiceChat=True never seemed to work before September 7, it may have been the bug fixed in v1.0.4.
  4. Back up before each update. v1.0.1's save fix is a reminder that early 1.0 builds had save risks.

If you self host, update with SteamCMD using the server's app ID 2394010:

steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 2394010 validate +quit

On our Palworld servers, Update on start keeps the server current: restart it after a patch and it pulls the new version. New keys like MaxBuildingLimitNum go into PalWorldSettings.ini in the file manager with the server stopped. For balanced rates, see the best Palworld server settings.

FAQ

What is the latest Palworld version?

The latest version is v1.0.5, released September 15, 2026. It fixed textures loading at low resolution and map icon filters turning off after respawning.

What is MaxBuildingLimitNum in Palworld?

It is a server setting added in v1.0.4 that caps how many structures each player can build. A value of 0 means no limit.

When did Jetragon change to level 70?

Patch v1.0.3 on August 12, 2026 moved several Jetragon related technologies from level 79 to 70 and cut the materials for its Pal Gear.

Do I need to restart my Palworld server after a patch?

Yes. A server only runs the new version after it is updated and restarted, and players on the new version cannot join an old server.

Did the Palworld 1.0 patches break crossplay?

No. Pocketpair said the PC only builds on July 30 would not affect crossplay. Crossplay only needs every player and the server on the same version.
