To host a Hytale server today you run Hypixel's official server, HytaleServer.jar, on a machine with Java 25, at least 4 GB of RAM and UDP port 5520 open, then authorise it with your Hytale account. Hytale server hosting on GamezServers is coming soon: once it opens you will pick a plan, pay and have a server with its own address in about a minute. Servers cannot be ordered yet, so this guide explains what hosting will look like, what you need to know about the official server right now, and how to join the waitlist so you hear first.
Hytale server hosting on GamezServers: where things stand
We are preparing Hytale servers but have not set an opening date. The Hytale server hosting page has a waitlist: add your email and we will write to you the moment you can deploy. Nothing is charged when you join.
Hytale is in early access, and its Chapter 1 update arrives on 12 October 2026. If you want a server for Chapter 1 day, self hosting is the way to do it right now, and our guide to making a Hytale server walks through every step.
Planned Hytale plans
Plans are sized by RAM, at 2.50 USD per GB a month. These are the plans we plan to offer when Hytale servers open:
| Plan | RAM | Price per month | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 4 GB | 9.99 USD | A small group of friends, up to 10 players |
| Standard | 8 GB | 19.99 USD | A community server or plugins, up to 30 players |
| Pro | 12 GB | 29.99 USD | A large public server, big view distance or heavy mods |
Some rules of thumb, based on Hypixel's own guidance:
- 4 GB is the official minimum. It suits a handful of friends on default settings.
- View distance is the biggest memory lever. Hypixel recommends capping it at 12 chunks (384 blocks). Raise it and memory use climbs fast.
- Players spreading out costs more than players standing together. Every area someone explores has to be loaded, so a group that splits up across the map needs more RAM than the same group building one base.
New customers get 50% off the first month on any plan, and you can change plan any time from Settings. More on sizing in Hytale server requirements and how much RAM a game server needs.
What hosting will look like
Once Hytale servers open, the steps will be the same as for every game we host today:
- Pick a plan on the Hytale page.
- Choose who pays. Pay alone, or pick Split with friends at checkout (see below).
- Pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe. Billing is monthly with no contract, and you can cancel from the dashboard any time. The server runs until the end of the paid month.
- Your server is live in about 60 seconds. The address and panel login show on your dashboard straight after checkout. No command line, no waiting on a ticket.
The parts of self hosting that trip people up, installing Java 25, fetching the server files and Assets.zip, and forwarding a UDP port, are what we are building the Hytale servers to handle for you. The server runs on dedicated hardware in a data center, so your world stays online when you log off, your home IP is never shared and there is nothing to port forward.
Split the cost with friends
At checkout you can choose Split with friends and pick from 2 to 10 people. Everyone pays their own share by card, and each share includes a 1 USD payment fee. As an example, the 8 GB Standard plan split four ways comes to about 6 USD each per month.
- You pay your share and the server starts straight away, without waiting for anyone.
- Each friend gets their own payment link and pays when they are ready. Every share that comes in keeps the server running longer.
- If you are a new customer, your friends also get 50% off their first month.
- Friends who make an account with the email they paid with see the server in their own dashboard and can use the console, actions and files.
If someone drops out, the remaining shares go up (never above the full server price) and everyone is emailed before anything changes. Details are in billing and cancellation.
The control panel
Every server comes with the same control panel. For Hytale that means:
- Live console with full access, so you can run any server command, including the
/authcommands. - One click actions for start, stop, restart and backup.
- File manager in the browser to edit
config.json,whitelist.jsonandpermissions.json, or upload files. - SFTP login for big uploads, like an existing world or a folder of mods.
- 3 backups, which you will want before every Hytale update.
- Sleep when empty, which stops the server after 90 minutes with nobody online. One click starts it again, and you can turn it off.
The control panel doc explains each part.
What you need to know about the official server right now
Whether you host yourself or wait for us, these are the facts about Hytale's official server as of September 2026:
- It is a Java program.
HytaleServer.jarneeds Java 25 and runs on Windows, Linux and macOS, on x64 and arm64. - It uses QUIC over UDP port 5520. Not TCP. Most "can't connect" problems come from forwarding TCP or a firewall blocking UDP. See Hytale server can't connect.
- It must be authorised. On first start you run
/auth login devicein the console and approve a code in your browser. Hypixel allows up to 100 servers per game license. See Hytale server authentication error. - Versions must match exactly. The server has to run the same version as players, so it needs updating the day a patch like Chapter 1 lands.
- Mods load on the server. Java plugins (
.jar) and asset packs (.zip) go in the server'smodsfolder, and players receive the content when they join. CurseForge is the main home for Hytale mods.
How players will join
When your server is running, players join like this:
- Open Hytale on the same version as the server.
- Click Servers on the main menu, then Add Server.
- Paste the server address into the connection address box and save it.
- Select the server in your list to join. Send the same address to your friends.
How to join the waitlist
- Go to the Hytale server hosting page.
- Enter your email in the waitlist box.
- That is it. We email you once when Hytale servers open, so you can be first on your own server.

FAQ
Can I order a Hytale server from GamezServers now?
Not yet. Hytale servers are coming soon and we have not set a date. Join the waitlist on the Hytale page and we will email you the moment you can deploy.
How much will Hytale server hosting cost?
The planned plans are 9.99 USD a month for 4 GB, 19.99 USD for 8 GB and 29.99 USD for 12 GB. New customers get 50% off the first month, and you can split the bill with up to 9 friends.
Is the Hytale server software free?
Yes. The official server comes with the game, and anyone with a Hytale account can run it. You still need a machine to run it on and an account to authorise it.
Do my friends need to own Hytale?
Yes. Every player needs their own copy of the game. They do not need to install mods, since the server sends them the content when they join.
Will a server work with Chapter 1?
Chapter 1 arrives on 12 October 2026. Any server, hosted or self hosted, has to update to the new version that day, because players' games update automatically and versions must match.
