To get your Hytale server on the official server list, create a Server Profile in your Hytale account page, fill in its details, verify your domain with a DNS TXT record, pass moderation, then link the running server with its discovery token. It then sends a heartbeat every two minutes, and players find it in the in game browser.
How does the Hytale server list work?
Hytale has an official, built in server browser, called Server Discovery. Hypixel announced the listing tools on 28 April 2026 in its Official Server Lists post, and the browser went live shortly after Update 5 on 26 May 2026.
In the browser, players can:
- Search servers by name or description.
- Filter by server type, audience and region.
- Open a server's profile before joining.
- Sort by featured servers (hand picked by the Hytale team), likes, or their own favourites, and see a recently played list.
Accounts managed by a parent cannot use Server Discovery.
Being listed is optional. Players can always add any server by its address with Add Server or Direct Connect in the Servers menu, listed or not.
What do you need to list a Hytale server?
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| A Hytale account | The listing is created in the Account Manager under Server Profiles |
| A running, authenticated server | It must be online and able to send heartbeats |
| A domain you control (recommended) | For the TXT record that proves the listing is yours |
| An honest content rating | Audience tag of Everyone, Teen or Mature |
| A public address | Players must be able to reach it on UDP, port 5520 by default |
A server stuck behind CGNAT or a closed UDP port can be listed but nobody will be able to join, so fix connectivity first with our Hytale server can't connect guide.
Step 1: Create a Server Profile
- Sign in to the Hytale Account Manager and open Server Profiles.
- Create a new profile and fill in:
- Name and description. Players search these, so put what makes your server different in plain words, for example "Survival with land claims and a player economy".
- Server type: Survival, Adventure/RPG, Creative, PvP, Minigames, Roleplay, Social, Sandbox or Other.
- Audience tag: Everyone, Teen or Mature.
- Regions served: there are ten, across North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania. Pick where your server is and where your players are.
- Save the profile.
Rate your content accurately. Hypixel's server manual says ratings power content filtering and parental controls, and servers that break their self rating face enforcement under the operator policies.
Step 2: Verify your domain with a TXT record
Hypixel asks operators to "verify your domain via a TXT record so players know the listing is genuinely yours." This protects you from impersonators copying your name.
- Copy the TXT value your Server Profile gives you.
- In your domain's DNS settings, add a TXT record with that value, on the name the profile tells you to use.
- Wait a few minutes for DNS to update, then run the verification check in the profile.
If you point a domain at your server, use a normal A record to the server's IP. Hytale does not support SRV records yet (Hypixel lists them as under evaluation), so players still need the port when it is not 5520.
You can list by IP address instead and skip verification, but the listing then loses the verified signal. Listings left in Pending verification for more than 30 days are removed.
Step 3: Pass moderation
Every listing enters a moderation queue, where a moderator checks the details are accurate. Hypixel has not published a typical review time. While you wait, make sure the server is online and the name, type and rating match what players will actually find.
Step 4: Link the server with its discovery token
Once approved, the server has to prove it is online. Each listing has a discovery token, and Hypixel described linking it as a simple command an operator runs in the server console or in chat. Use the exact command your Server Profile shows, run it from the console, and keep the token private like a password.
After that:
- The server pings the discovery service every two minutes.
- If Hytale does not hear from it for more than two minutes, the listing is quietly hidden until it comes back.
- The heartbeat also reports your server's version and patchline, so players are only shown servers they can actually join.
That last point matters on patch days. A server that is behind on updates cannot accept players on the new version, so keep it current with our Hytale server update guide.
What does a listing show, and what is missing?
The first version of the browser deliberately leaves some things out: there are no custom icons, banners, live player counts or ratings yet. Hypixel lists them as planned. The server manual adds that when player counts arrive, they will come from client telemetry rather than numbers the server reports, so counts cannot be faked.
Until then, your name, description, type, region and likes do the selling. A clear description and a server that is reliably online beat anything else.
Tips to get found
- Pick the right type and region. Players can filter by both, so a wrong choice hides you from the people you want.
- Stay online. A server that drops out every night disappears from the list every night. A hosted server with automatic restarts helps.
- Update on patch day. Out of date servers are hidden from players on the new version.
- Turn the whitelist off. A listed server that rejects strangers frustrates players. Use
/whitelist disable, and see Hytale server commands for bans and permissions. - Grow outside the list too. Our guide to growing a game server community covers Discord and word of mouth.
Listing a GamezServers Hytale server
Hytale servers on GamezServers are coming soon. When they open, every server gets its own address and an always open UDP port, so the listing steps above work the same way: create the profile, verify your domain, and run the discovery command in the panel's live console. FAQ
Is it free to list a Hytale server?
Hypixel has not mentioned any fee for Server Profiles or listings. You need a Hytale account and a server that stays online.
Why is my Hytale server not showing in the server list?
It may still be in moderation, waiting for domain verification, offline for more than two minutes, or on a different version than the player. Check the profile status and your server's heartbeat.
Do I need a domain to list a Hytale server?
No. You can list by IP address, but the listing will not show as verified. A domain with a TXT record proves the listing is yours.
Can players see how many people are on my server?
Not yet. Live player counts are planned, and Hypixel says they will come from client telemetry rather than server reports.
Does Hytale support SRV records?
Not yet. Hypixel lists SRV support as under evaluation, so use port 5520 or give players the full address with the port.
