Soldat soldat.ini Settings Explained (Server Config Guide)
What the keys in a Soldat server's soldat.ini do: GameStyle, limits, Respawn_Time in ticks, bonuses, weapons, network, voting, anti cheat and bots.

A Soldat server is configured in soldat.ini, which has three sections: [GAME] for mode, limits, respawn, bonuses and weapons, [NETWORK] for name, port, passwords, slots and connection rules, and [BOTS] for bot skill. The keys people get wrong most are Respawn_Time, which is in ticks (60 ticks equal one second), and GameStyle, which takes a number from 0 to 6. Edit the file while the server is stopped, or reload it live with the /loadcon admin command.
How the file works
soldat.ini sits in the server folder next to soldatserver. Each line is Key=Value. The server reads it on start, and an admin can reload it without a restart using /loadcon in game. Keep a copy of a working file before big changes.
[GAME] section
Mode and limits
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
GameStyle |
Mode: 0 DM, 1 Pointmatch, 2 Teammatch, 3 CTF, 4 Rambomatch, 5 Infiltration, 6 Hold the Flag |
Deathmatch_Limit |
Kills to win a Deathmatch round |
Pointmatch_Limit |
Points to win Pointmatch |
Teammatch_Limit |
Team kills to win Teammatch |
Capture_Limit |
Flag captures to win CTF |
Rambomatch_Limit |
Points to win Rambomatch |
Infiltration_Limit |
Points to win Infiltration |
Hold_Limit |
Points to win Hold the Flag |
Time_Limit |
Minutes before the map ends anyway |
Loop_Maps |
1 cycles through mapslist.txt |
Only the limit for the active GameStyle matters. Set Time_Limit too, so a map with an evenly matched game still ends.
Respawn
| Key | Unit | Default feel |
|---|---|---|
Respawn_Time |
Ticks | Used in DM, Pointmatch and Rambomatch |
MinWaveRespawn_Time |
Ticks | Shortest wave respawn in team modes |
MaxWaveRespawn_Time |
Ticks | Longest wave respawn in team modes |
60 ticks make one second, so Respawn_Time=180 is three seconds. Team modes respawn players in waves between the min and max values, which keeps teams moving together. For fast public deathmatch, 120 to 180 ticks feels right. For competitive CTF, clans often prefer longer waves so a defensive stop matters.

Rules
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
Friendly_Fire |
1 lets teammates hurt each other |
Survival_Mode |
Players stay dead until the round ends |
Realistic_Mode |
Less health, weapon recoil, limited view; a slower style |
Advance_Amount |
Used by Advance mode in team games |
Guns_Collide / Kits_Collide |
Whether dropped guns and kits collide with the map |
Max_Grenades |
Grenade carry limit |
Radio |
Enables quick radio chat |
Bonuses
Bonus_Frequency from 0 (none) to 5 (often) controls how often power ups spawn, and Bonus_FlameGod, Bonus_Predator, Bonus_Berserker, Bonus_Vest and Bonus_Cluster turn each one on or off. Competitive servers usually set the frequency to 0.
Weapons
Weapon_1 to Weapon_14 each enable (1) or disable (0) a weapon. A sniper only or a no explosives server is just a matter of switching these. Weapons_Mode and the Random_Bots keys tune related behavior; leave them alone unless you need them.

The anti flood and anti cheat keys (Flooding_Packets_Internet, Max_Flood_Warnings, Max_KnifeCheat_Warnings, Disable_AntiCheat_Kick and similar) protect the server from spam and obvious cheats. The defaults work for nearly every server. The T1_ keys are network snapshot timings, best left at their defaults.
[BOTS] section
Difficulty sets bot skill, and Chat toggles bot chatter. Add bots with /addbot in game, or set the Random_Bots keys to fill empty servers. A couple of bots keep a public server alive until real players arrive.

On a hosted server
On a GamezServers Soldat server, Server Name, Server Password, Admin Password and Max Players are fields in the control panel, and the panel writes them into soldat.ini on every start, so set those four there. Everything else in this guide is edited in soldat.ini with the file manager. Changes load on the next restart, which takes seconds. Setting up from scratch? See how to host a Soldat server, and for running things live, Soldat admin commands.
